The Living Room - Restaurant Bar Review

Deansgate’s suave and sophisticated restaurant bar, The Living Room, is Manchester’s very own stylish front room. Diners can expect a classy experience, with oh so mouth-watering dishes delivered to your table, shimmering décor, live jazz music and splendid cocktails. The Living Room is as casually elegant as it gets.

The Venue

With plush snakeskin textured menus and embroidered lounge-style chairs, you can tell this restaurant bar was assembled with love and attention to detail. With a grand piano in the centre of the ground floor opposite the bar area, high-top bar tables to one side and dining tables to the other, The Living Room has the space to cater to those wanting to drink and socialise or dine. One thing is for certain: you can guarantee that style and finesse will be part of your evening.

The Atmosphere and Clientele

Glitzy and glamorous, yet welcoming enough to earn its Living Room status, you could easily be forgiven for thinking that you had stepped off the street and into an exclusive and elaborate dinner party in a timelessly classy home. Everyone around you is stylishly dressed; this is a place you make an effort for. As our evening progressed, a jazz pianist and singer began to warm-up, releasing funky notes that fed our anticipation of the entertainment to come. Contemporary covers of jazz classics, and jazzed-up modern songs soon filled the atmosphere as we indulged on good food and wine. Speaking of which…

The Food and Drink

The cocktails are to die for. I tried their Pornstar Martini, and now have a new favourite drink. The citrusy sharpness and the creamy thickness of the drink reminded me of a beautifully lemony angel delight. It was just perfect; a delectable sign of the quality of their offerings. We also had the privilege of sampling their winter-warming dishes. I tried the Lamb Rump, which came with buttery beans and a basil potato patty with a side of broccoli, a thoroughly fulfilling and delicious dish. My companion opted for the Monkfish, and was astounded at the texture and flavour of the dish as a whole; obviously each component had been carefully thought through. If you want high quality dishes and are prepared to pay what you have to in order to get them, go to The Living Room. There were some slightly more affordable options, though, but nothing on the menu could be considered “cheap”.
