Description
Where The Light Gets In, located in a converted Victorian coffee warehouse in Stockport, just outside Manchester, is a pioneering restaurant known for its commitment to sustainability and boundary-pushing cuisine. The interior is loft-like and atmospheric, with exposed brick, high ceilings, and an open kitchen that blends seamlessly into the dining space. The minimalist design allows the focus to remain on the food and the storytelling behind each dish. The restaurant offers a surprise tasting menu that evolves daily, built around seasonal British produce, much of it foraged or grown on their own farm.
Founded by chef Sam Buckley, the restaurant has earned a Green MICHELIN Star, recognizing its leadership in sustainable gastronomy. Buckley and his team are known for their zero-waste philosophy, using whole ingredients and preserving excess through pickling, fermenting, and curing.
The experience is as much about connection and creativity as it is about food, with the team often engaging diners in the narrative of each course. In 2024–2025, the restaurant expanded its reach with a series of conceptual pop-ups in Manchester, blending food with art, film, and community engagement.
