District

Description

Nestled in an unassuming building in Northern Quarter, District is offering a new take on Thai street food. Using traditional ingredients, the chefs dish out small plates that are reminiscent of the bites you'd find in Bangkok, but with a modern, upmarket twist. This all comes from the team behind Tokyo Ramen, one of Manchester's top noodle restaurants.

At pavement level, District showcases a futuristic dining room, filled with metallic colours and neon lights alongside pretty minimalist decor. Make your way underground to discover the cocktail bar that looks ready for late-night debauchery; it's dark, mysterious and illuminated only by a vibrant glow from the edges of the room.

The kitchen serves up 12-course and 8-course tasting menus which change regularly with the seasons. You can expect plates such as local hogget belly accompanied by nam prik pao, shrimp floss and kale, as well as aged Goosnargh duck complemented with apple aubergine and phat phet jus. If you fancy a tipple to go with your meal, choose from a delicious array of wines, or if you're feeling adventurous – try one of their cocktails. Highlights include the Surin Wine, which is a mix of rice pudding vodka ferment and toasted rice milk.
