Description
Rising from the heart of Manchester’s St John’s district, Fenix is a two-storey Greek-Mediterranean restaurant that blends immersive interiors with a contemporary menu. Created by the team behind Tattu, the venue delivers drama and detail in equal measure.
The entrance leads you into The Nest, a moody, cave-like bar space with textured stone walls, flickering candlelight, and a striking back bar that glows like molten gold. A spiral staircase wraps around a 25-foot oak tree, guiding guests to the upper dining level where things open up. Here, travertine tables, sculptural banquettes, and feathered bronze chandeliers give the space a modern Aegean feel.
The menu, overseen by Executive Head Chef Ippokratis Anagnostelis, gives a contemporary spin to Greek staples. Small plates include sea bass ceviche, while mains range from slow-roasted lamb shank to pearl oyster mushrooms for the vegetarians.
Fenix’s cocktail menu is split into four elemental sections, Earth, Water, Fire, and Air, each inspired by Greek mythology. Drinks like the “Sirens Call” (vodka, blood orange and coral for £14.25) arrive in custom glassware with plenty of theatre, such as conch shells. There’s also a dedicated section for non-alcoholic creations, with the same level of craft and presentation.
