The rules of dating and love have changed.

If social media is an extension of ourselves, how can we prove we love someone online? What does Tinder say about our generation’s need for love and connection? Can you judge whether two people are in love by their Facebook posts? Love, Sex and Apps is a double-bill of multimedia plays, The Tinder Game and Border Control, from award-winning playwright, Michelle Sewell, which takes a brutally honest look at the way we communicate and relate to others in our digital world.

“All these women real women one two three kms away are telling me sweet nothings or just smiling at me I don't even need to talk to them as I grab away and the great thing is I can do it mindlessly mindlessly swipe and flick and grab at beautiful girls one two three kms away real girls mindlessly swiping right right right don't need to think don't need to feel feel nothing but that ecstatic burst."

The Tinder Game is a comical and haunting play about a young generation's morality and its desperate search for connection. Enigmatic twenty-something Liz joins the world of Tinder to play a game of obsession, lust and betrayal in the hope of winning love. This production takes real tinder app conversations and interviews from tinder daters, fusing them into a spectacle that blurs the boundaries between fact and fiction, the virtual and the real, the physical and imaginary spaces we inhabit.

“This does, yes of course, raise suspicions as to the legitimacy of their love. Can you love someone truly and know that you want to be with someone for the rest of your life if you've only been living together for a little over three months"

Border Control presents a love story and a piece of postmodern, political theatre which represents the globalized time in which we live and the obstacles faced by people from different countries who are in love but are displaced. As three immigration officers review an application to remain from Jasmine and Edward Frost, we see a relationship dissected through emails, texts, Facebook posts and Skype conversations.

Love, Sex and Apps speaks about what it means to be in a relationship today.
