Treat the best mum in the world to a luxury Afternoon tea!
For over four years London-based catering company Basement Galley has hosted their flagship dining experience "The Underground Supper Club" in one of London's most unique venues, a decommissioned 1967 London Underground carriage.
This Mother's Day we will be opening our doors to treat mums to a luxury afternoon tea: home-made jams, creative cakes and some savoury surprises all in our usual culinary vein. Head Chef Shiann Stuiver (formerly Pollen Street Social) will be showcasing her insanely creative culinary skills you can expect sophisticated flavours from around the world without all the pompous Ritz stuffiness and awkward silence.
We actively encourage sharing heart-warming stories about your mums to fellow diners at our communal tables and help you a long with a complimentary ice-breaker bubbles. And if that's not enough you can indulge the best mum in the world with cocktails from award-winning (Best Vodka in the World 2010, Double Gold 2016 for GB Gin) single estate Hertfordshire distillers Williams Chase.
FAQ:
Do you cater for dietary requirements? Yes. There is a section for that when you buy your ticket. Chefs at the Underground Supper Club can cater for most religious or allergy requirements as long as they know in advance; otherwise they won't be able to cater for you on the night.
Is there a dress code? No. Please feel comfortable. Some people like to dress up a bit but others choose the t-shirt and jeans options. We just want you to enjoy your evening!
Is this a BYOB event? No. The onsite bar will be offering a carefully selected menu of wines, beers, and soft drinks on the night.
Does the tube carriage move? Sadly not. Even though the photos might suggest otherwise, the decommissioned 1967 Victoria Line carriage is completely stationary at the Pump House Museum in Walthamstow.
Is the tube carriage heated? Yes. However, during the winter months you may wish to wear something a little warmer should a draft slip through. If you need a little more warmth, then ask us for one of our cosy red blankets....or hit the bar!
Will I be sitting next to people I know? Sort of. Despite silver service and high-end food, it's a supper club, NOT a restaurant. The organisers will try to accommodate people who book together close to each other, but please be prepared for sitting next to the odd stranger as well due to the layout of the carriage: it's been proven time and time again that guests who get to know fellow diners in this way get the most out of the evening! If you would prefer some privacy, we recommend booking one of our tables of 4 two-person booths.
What is the refunds & cancellation policy? Bookings can be cancelled up to 7 days before the event. A new transfer to a new date can be requested. Refunds can only be given if the cancelled ticket can be resold. No refunds can me made if the ticket is cancelled with less than 7 days to go before the event. No refunds or booking transfer can be made on the day of the original booking. Transfers and refunds are made at the discretion of Basement Galley management. Any complaints after the event will be dismissed if the matter has not been brought to the attention of the duty manager at the event itself.
