Sound the klaxons, clear your diaries and grab your mates, because Foodism is hosting its very first supper club, and you're invited.
We've always loved supper clubs' way of bringing a group of people together in a casual setting to eat, chat and share everything from the bread basket to their opinion on the new Game of Thrones. That's why we're excited to be holding our first event at our HQ in Battersea on 4 April.
And if that wasn't enough, we'll also be working with some of our favourite businesses from around Battersea, Clapham and Brixton. We'd love it if you could join us for a super-special evening packed with food from all our local heroes. You'll get three courses and a welcome drink for £30 (plus booking fee), and it'll be BYOB on the night.
Here are the brilliant chefs and suppliers we're working with...
Social Pantry is a café just down the road from us that dishes up simple, seasonal cooking. They're also a brilliant social enterprise and were a winner at this year's Foodism 100 Awards.
Abel & Cole are farm-to-front-door home delivery pioneers, delivering fresh, seasonal, organic food to homes for 30 years. Nowadays they deliver not just fantastic seasonal organic fruit & veg boxes, but artisan bread, milk, meat, recipes boxes, meal kits and more, to thousands of food loving homes around England and Wales every week.
Natoora supplies almost 1,000 of the best restaurants in London, Paris and New York with seasonal produce. The brand is working to build a transparent supply chain, celebrating the work of the growers behind the fruit and veg they source.
Common is a new addition to Clapham, serving organic artisan breads, sandwiches, patisseries and cakes. It's more than a café – it's an eco-lifestyle hub, with a zero waste station where you can buy grains, pulses, nuts, spices, herbs and cleaning products, all of which are plastic-free.
Doghouse Distillery is an independent grain distillery a stone's throw from our offices, in the railway arches in Battersea. The team are pioneering grain to bottle gin and vodka, and it's the first distillery in recent years to make gin from scratch in London.
A former air raid shelter under Clapham Common seems like an unlikely place to grow fresh salad and herbs, but that's exactly what Growing Underground does. Now, they're used by the likes of Michel Roux and more, and they've supplied some of the produce for this evening.
Bad Boys Bakery is a social enterprise based in HM Prison Brixton that effectively helps people with convictions improve their skills and reintegrate them into society and employment on the release. It was set up by Gordon Ramsey in 2012, and teaches them how to make bread, cakes, brownies and sandwiches.
Originally manufactured in the Black Country area near Birmingham, Falcon Enamelware's blue-rimmed white dishes are iconic.
