The Brompton Quartet are named in honour of the chapel where they played their first gig - at our very own London Month of the Dead in 2019 - performing classics such as Death and the Maiden and Danse Macabre.
Since then these four young musicians, who originally met as students the Royal College of Music, have gone on to scale greater heights on the classical music scene, performing at prestigious venues such as St Martin in the Fields and Wigmore Hall and appearing on Radio Three’s drive-time show In Tune.
Despite the increasing call of stardom the Bromptons like to return to their roots at London Month of the Dead each October, where this year they will be treating us to an unusually downbeat string quartet from Haydn one of just a handful he wrote in a minor key and the Quartet Number 9 from the ever-gloomy Dmitri Shostakovich.
Remember, you haven’t heard classical music until you’re heard it performed by candlelight in a graveyard, surrounded by 30,000 eavesdropping corpses.
Tickets £15 including a delightful gin cocktail and a 20% donation to Brompton Cemetery.
