DEATH, DISEASE & DESTRUCTION

A guided tour of Tower Hamlets Cemetery
This event is part of the London Month of the Dead

Step into the realm of the macabre alongside Claire Slack, the Heritage Officer for the Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.  Follow her on an expedition through the twisted annals of death, disease, and the enigmatic healers who dared to confront the harbingers of doom. But beware, dear traveller, for this ghastly journey shall reveal the darkest recesses of historic London, where grotesque tales of suffering and decay abound.

Wander amongst the tombstones of Tower Hamlets on a journey from the overcrowded, poverty-filled slum housing in Bethnal Green to the wealthiest houses in Bow as we explore how disease wiped through the city irrelevant of class, gender, race or religion.

This tour has been a collaboration of work between four of our dedicated volunteer heritage researchers from the East London History Society and Queen Mary University of London and tells the story of public health in London’s East End between 1841 and 1966 when the cemetery closed for business through the stories of some of those buried at Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.

Tickets £12 including a 20% donation to Tower Hamlets Cemetery.

Awful. Psychic Stevie failed to contact anyone. Which is probably why he cut the show short. It was the hammiest performance I’ve seen. It was like a comedy sketch. Waste of time. Although the setting was beautiful and atmospheric.

Hunt is really good. So fascinating and engaging. I look forward to seeing him again too. So spooky because he has spoken to so many school shooters and his research tells me it can happen anytime.
