After sold-out runs at Nottingham Playhouse and the Young Vic, James Graham’s powerful new play Punch is heading to the West End – and it’s not to be missed.
Opening at the Apollo Theatre for a strictly limited 10-week season from 22nd September, Punch is a gripping, high-energy production based on the extraordinary true story of Jacob – a Nottingham teenager whose life takes a devastating turn after one impulsive moment changes everything.
From the Olivier Award-winning writer of Dear England, This House, and BBC’s Sherwood, Punch explores themes of justice, redemption and the power of forgiveness, with direction from Adam Penford (An Enemy of the People, The Trial of Christine Keeler).
As Jacob struggles to rebuild his life after prison, an unexpected meeting with the parents of his victim sparks a profound and emotional transformation. Described by Whatsonstage as a “powerhouse of a production”, Punch is a timely and deeply moving story of hope, humanity and the possibility of change.
This production is dedicated to James Hodgkinson and all victims of one-punch.
