Mikey Erg (US)
Mikey Erg (real name Mike Yannich) is a punk rock drummer, guitarist, and vocalist, from New Jersey. He has played in numerous bands, most famously The Ergs!,[1]but also Star Fucking Hipsters,[2] The Dopamines,[3] The Unlovables, Dirtbike Annie, Parasites,[4] and The LLC (the house band on The Chris Gethard Show). In 2016, he released his first solo album, Tentative Decisions.[5]
In 2013, a change.org petition was started to have Erg fill the vacant drummer slot in Against Me!. Although Atom Willard was eventually given the position, the petition caught the attention of the band's front-woman Laura Jane Grace, who then recorded a four song demo with Mikey for a project unrelated to Against Me![6]
Antillectual (NL)
Antillectual from Nijmegen, the Netherlands plays a socially conscious, energetic blend of music. Creating their own unique blend of stolen riffs and borrowed song titles, while carrying the torch for European punkrock beyond their own country and continent.
Music
You could describe Antillectual's music as melodic, intelligent and urgent; like Rise Against and Bad Religion, influenced by ‘90’s skate punk to ‘00’s emo and ‘10’s orgcore.
History
In 2005 Antillectual started releasing albums and touring. Ever since, the band has perfected the romantic idea of being a dedicated touring band playing their energetic live show all over the world, probably over a thousand times.
ENGAGE!
Living in a world that is coping with conflicts and crises it is time to engage! Critical times call for critical music.
On full length album ENGAGE! Antillectual has taken a complete new approach to creating and perfecting their sound. Not only does the band have the best line-up to date, for the (pre)production of the new album the band created an all-star team covering the loud music area from left to right, from poppy to obscure. Songs are more fine-tuned than before; even more thought and effort is being put in. Of course there is still that typical Antillectual flavor. Yet, you will find that new toppings and deeper layers have been added, which you will discover after taking some more bites from the new Antillectual pizza. To top it off: Strike Anywhere’s Thomas Barnett and BoySetsFire’s Nathan Gray make their appearance on "ENGAGE!”.
The album comes out in Europe through Redfield Records (Gameface, Kids Insane, John Coffey), in Asia through Waterslide Records (Literature, Steve Adamyk Band, Bangers) and in South America through Fusa Records (Nitrominds, Adrenalized, Kacttus).
Hit Like A Girl (US)
Hit Like A Girl is an indie/emo/pop band from Montclair, New Jersey fronted by Nicolle Maroulis. Nicolle is a non-binary/queer artist who started this project on their own. They began writing these songs years ago with an acoustic guitar and a vision. They spent years and years supporting other artists' musical endeavors, and finally decided to put that same energy into their own music. What initially started as just a singer-songwriter acoustic project, has now transformed into the full-band energetic sound we know and love today as Hit Like A Girl.
The band has since been a collective involving different people to play different instruments at various shows, but Frederick Pruden is usually there too.
Nicolle runs a non profit organization called No More Dysphoria, and at their shows sell merch for this organization. All proceeds of sales go towards aiding transgender and gender non conforming individuals pay for major aspects of their transitions including but not limited to hormone replacement therapy, gender reassignment surgery, gender behavioral and occupational therapy, etc. You can learn more about their organization by visiting www.nomoredysphoria.com
