”Diggin' their roots!"
World renowned swing band, Jive Aces, will be performing an intimate set, including songs from their latest album "Diggin' The Roots Vol 2: Hot Jazz."
The Jive Aces are the UK’s top Jive & Swing band. Together for twenty years, this extremely popular six-piece group have performed at thousands of festivals, theatres and events around the world.
From the very start, the band has been constantly in-demand for their high-energy swinging music and spectacular stage show. Their live set typically combines fresh arrangements of swinging classics by such greats as Louis Prima, Cab Calloway, Bobby Darin, Louis Armstrong, Dean Martin, Big Joe Turner, etc, as well as great original songs.
"Infectiousm Uplifting and Marvelous!"

"Their Explosive live shows have become legendary."
Montreux Jazz Festival
Formed by singer/trumpeter Ian Clarkson, drummer Peter Howell, double bassist Ken Smith and saxophonist “Big” John Fordham, the four long-time friends were originally fans of 50’s rock ‘n’ roll, who then started listening to earlier influences: jazz, swing, jump blues, western swing and other roots music. Starting as fans and dancers (Ken became a jive dance champion around this time) they soon wanted to do more than just dance to other bands, so they decided to emulate their musical heroes and formed a band which combined their many influences and started to forge a unique sound. Filled with enthusiasm for the music they loved and emulating the kind of showmanship they’d seen on scratchy B&W videos of performers from the 30’s, 40’s & 50’s.
Their first single was produced by Boz Boorer (Morrisey) and released on their own label. The single found its way to Europe and word of this hot young band soon spread, leading to invitations to perform in France, Switzerland and Germany. Also, around this time the band made an early TV appearance on the final series of BBC TV talent show “Opportunity Knocks”. In the beginning, while the four founding members were constant, a number of other musicians went through the ranks. However, the line-up eventually gelled with the permanent addition of pianist Vince Hurley and trombonist Alex Douglas. With these additions the Jive Aces sound was truly born, a mixture of fat-toned horns; a hard-swinging rhythm section and the incredible vocals and showmanship of front man Ian Clarkson.
The Jive Aces success has led to them working with many of the top names in the business, including John Travolta, Status Quo, Isaac Hayes, Van Morrison, Jamie Cullum, Keely Smith, Priscilla Presley, Kirstie Alley, The Proclaimers, Kenny Ball, Hayley Westenra, Chuck Berry, Tony Christie, Cassidy Janson and Lee Evans. In 2012 the Jive Aces further expanded their audience when they reached the final rounds of “Britain’s Got Talent” - the first live band ever to do so. After wowing the judges with their show-stopping audition of “Jungle Book” favourite “I Wanna Be Like You”, they made national news as “the band that put Simon Cowell in a good mood”!
"Absolutely Brilliant! That really put me in a good mood."
Simon Cowell
"Simply Sensational!"

"Wonderful!"
