PRESENTING LADIES & LEGENDS
"Nikki Lambourn has the best rock voice since Janis Joplin
and I know what I'm talking about, I knew Janis."
Roger Daltrey of The Who
Never the Bride are dedicating their shows here to the Ladies and Legends they’ve loved the soundtrack of their lives and who've influenced them as performers.
When a rock 'n roll band is fronted by the electrifying voice of Nikki Lamborn, when its songs are composed by the gifted Catherine Feeney, when its musicians are world class, it's called NEVER THE BRIDE. And people who 'know' know it…
Inspirational vocalist, Nikki Lamborn, grew up listening to Doris Day, Bette Midler, Dusty Springfield, Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald. She loves nothing better than wrapping her vocal chords around some of the torch songs these ladies have produced. Catherine Feeney on piano has been inspired many great musicians and songwriters, Carole King, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Leon Russell, The Beatles....
You might say, after reading their biography, but they're a rock band, aren't they? .... Put it like this, it’s not very often you'll hear a Doris Day song the same night as a Led Zeppelin song! Yes, you'd better believe it! As well as their own material, these ladies along with their band of world class musicians will rustle up a musical feast of eclectic wonder.
For 26 years, Never The Bride have performed live and recorded with some of the biggest names in music including Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton, Elton John, Chaka Khan, Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers, The Pretenders, Procol Harum and The Who; all of whom were left breathless by their talent.
All around the world Nikki and Catherine have stunned the rich and famous: The Kennedys, British Rock Symphony Orchestra, a private performance with Cher, Robert Plant as they performed their own arrangement of his song "Going To California". The very song they recorded on the Zeppelin tribute album "Encomium" which earned Never The Bride their first gold disc.
"I got goose bumps and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up".
Dame Shirley Bassey at Nikki’s "The Living Tree” concert
"An absolutely brilliant band. One of the best live bands in Britain."
Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2
Bristol born Nikki Lamborn carries the dynamo vocal lead, while Glaswegian, Catherine ‘Been’ Feeney asserts the ‘sonic art’ with keys and vocals. Their raw, unfettered talent is undeniable and is enough to justify the impression the girls have left on audiences throughout Never The Bride’s 25 years of global domination.
Accompanying these talented ladies are the boys in the band. Some of the best musicians in the business and have performed with artists such as Tina Turner, Elton John, Eric Clapton, James Brown, Steve Marriot, Mark Knopfler and more.
Check out Never Youtube to see Never The Bride on "Stairway to Heaven" and "Kashmir" with the British Rock Symphony Orchestra. Nikki and Catherine produced Dame Shirley Bassey's "Get The Party Started" album.
The album broke world records with the longevity of her chart career, reaching Number 6 in the UK charts. Her version of Never The Bride's "The Living Tree" became a top 40 hit and was performed by Bassey in the presence of The Queen at The Royal Variety Performance.
A world class act, Never The Bride has a primal power and a vital passion that raises not only the roof, but the soul.
Nikki also holds a successful reputation as a vocal coach; described as “The best I have ever known” by Beverley Knight and has appeared on TV as a vocal coach on BBC’s “Just The Two Of Us” and Channel 4’s “Faking It” series.
Capturing the electric and unquestionable live energy, Never The Bride’s presence has also been noted as one of LA’s famous Viper Room’s top favourite moments of the past 21 years. Sunset and Clark magazine.
Never The Bride have released six studio albums to date, with their latest outing, due to be released later this year. Their legendary career merely represents their journey so far – and remains a testament for what dangerously is yet to come.
