🌀 Keep On Moving is a brand new weekly live event showcasing some of London's most exciting artists. Taking place at The Hackney Social, a brand new venue for the arts, you can expect to see a hand picked selection of brilliant artists across multiple genres perform with their band in an intimate setting 🌀
Teshay Makeda fuses Reggae, Soul and RnB to create her own dynamic, contemporary genre dubbed ’Roots Soul'. South London-born, and with a Rastafarian upbringing, Teshay Makeda’s lyrics spread messages of divinity, self-connection, and spirituality. Influenced by the likes of Jah9, Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu, her socially conscious songs groove on top of punchy, uplifting beats and catchy melodies.
The former Roundhouse resident artist has been featured numerously on major radio stations like BBC 1Xtra and BBC 6 Music by the likes of Seani B, David Rodigan and Don Letts. Makeda has also been awarded the AWSL Music Award 2020 for ‘Artist of the Future’, alongside nominations for Boisdale Music Awards and Youth Music Awards.
With the help of the PRS Sustaining creativity fund, Makeda has recorded her highly anticipated 8 track EP ‘Omega Mother Goddess’, which is set for release in November 2021.
