Brick Lane Jazz Festival makes its debut at the Truman Brewery in April 2022: Three days of jazz music set across five stages, with twenty-four performing artists, the festival will showcase the best of London’s vibrant jazz scene. On Saturday 23rd April, Blue Lab Beats will be taking over the WERKHAUS stage for a unique live performance.

ABOUT BLUE LAB BEATS

London Jazztronica duo Blue Lab Beats have been taking jazz into the stratosphere with a futuristic melting pot fuelled by hip-hop, Afrobeats and electronica. They represent a generation inspired by not only the forebearers of jazz but also the pioneers of hip-hop’s golden age where musicality was a primary principle. Alongside those US jazz and hip-hop figureheads that have influenced them, from the UK their inspirations include grime Godfathers.

The joyous, celebratory nature of their music has inspired a wave of radio support from a range of influential fans who have joined their journey: Huw Stephens at Radio 1; Phil Taggart, Goldirocks, Jamz Supernova and Moses Boyd at 1Xtra; Jamie Cullum at Radio 2; and a playlist at NME Radio. Blue Lab Beats were asked to feature in a new APPLE ADVERT alongside Stormzy, Skepta, Mark Ronson, Paul McCartney and more. Their top 5 tracks on Spotify have almost 10 million streams between them.

Recently they have signed to iconic record label Blue Note Records and are now recording their 3rd album. Vocal collaborators included on their first two albums include Sampa The Great (they also feature on her recent album) Tiana Major 9, Kojey Radical, Kin Kai & Jaz Karis among others. Guest musicians include Theo Croker, Kaidi Akinnibi, Nubya Garcia, Moses Boyd, DT Soul and Ashley Henry.

Blue Lab Beats’ reputation also exploded beyond their own scene as they were invited to remix tracks from pop heavyweights Dua Lipa and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man.

Live shows have included Glastonbury, Afropunk, WOMAD, Blue Note Jazz Festival, We Out Here Festival, Citadel, Best Kept Secret, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, El Barrio Festival, their headline shows at Oval Space and supports for Kiefer, Thundercat, Roy Ayers and Mulatu Astatke.
