You’re invited to join in the Campfire Club! In time-honoured fashion we will gather around roaring blazes enveloped in music and entertainment. High spirits will be maintained with good ol’ sing-a-longs, storytelling, special guests and who knows what else. Every fire will be a unique event with a magic concoction of spontaneity, rare talents and the unknown, all drenched in the sepia tones of firelight and tinged with wooded aromas.
Blair Dunlop
‘An exciting glimpse of where traditional folk rock might go.’ Q Magazine
Blair Dunlop announced the release of his third studio album Gilded on May 6th 2016. Gilded follows on from Blair’s highly acclaimed 2014 release House Of Jacks and his outstanding debut album Blight and Blossom in 2012, which saw him win the BBC R2 Folk Horizon Award. Blair is a story-teller, known for his cerebral life affirming lyrics and the new record fares no differently – Gilded is a collection of stories and reflections, recorded in live takes at Manchesters Blue Print Studios. On this record Blair remains true to his folk roots lyrically whilst continuing to push musically into new areas.
Blair’s career goes from strength to strength. He has won awards, toured all over the UK and overseas, collaborated with a variety of writers and musicians, moved to London and set up his own record label (Gilded Wings Records), all of which have informed, and are reflected in, his mature and astute musical musings. The Guardian described him as an increasingly adventurous songwriter, and it rings even truer now. Blair has the confidence and experience to make the music he has always wanted to
‘Blair Dunlop is a cult hero, an artist whose work is adored by those who come across it.’Clash Music
Rachel Ries
Hailing from the prairies of middle America, Rachel crafts sly and compassionate songs for the crooked-hearted. With an electric guitar and piano; a clear voice and steady hand; she deftly pulls listeners in with disarming candor and holds them there with smart and tender poetry. This March, Ries will release Cardinal; a handcrafted EP of songs written while on residency in Rouen, France. For Rachel, each of the songs is a direction; a key; a red-blooded essential for living – be it bravery, belief in one’s path or the bonds of family and blood. Each Cardinal includes a limited edition linoleum block art print, handmade by Rachel herself.
“Organic storytelling Americana fresh from the oven” “Gorgeous gush of warm-blooded harmonies” – Uncut 7/10
Proudly carrying the torch of her love for the domestic arts, Rachel’s homemade preserves and hand-stitched notebooks can often be found at shows, nestled amid the 180 gram vinyl, cds and t-shirts. If you need comparisons, think Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Jeff Buckley. If you don’t – just listen.
