In the Magical Medieval Crypt
Step into a world where culinary excellence meets viticultural mastery, deep beneath the heart of London in the 600-year-old Crypt of St Etheldreda’s Church. Once the site of a legendary three-day wedding feast hosted by King Henry VIII in 1509, this historic venue continues its legacy of celebration - this time with a spectacular five-course gourmet experience paired with six of the finest wines, all hand-selected and presented by a different master of wine for each event. Each month has a different theme.
Evening will be hosted by that wonderfully ebullient Master of Wine and connoisseur of the Syrah grape Peter Mccombie. Peter who recently returned from the Southern Rhone suggests we might top and tail the menu with two of his favourites, including a terrific 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape from Chateau de Beaucastel.
Peter’s
effervescent good cheer and the wonderfully rich round wines
of the Rhone Valley are just what we need to lift these gloomy
January evenings.
