✦ ABOUT WAH WAH 45S ✦
A UK record label specialising in the highest quality soul, vinyl and live music, Wah Wah 45s is home of Resonators, Dele Sosimi, Colman Brothers and more. The label came about as the brainchild of the late, great Simon Goss and his brother Chris, alongside DJ Billy Whizz and later Oscar Goldenchild, kicking off in London in the early 90s with the first proper Wah Wah session at The Old Albany (where the Chemical Brothers started their careers).
After some serious underground parties, the sessions impressed the Jazz Cafe’s Adrian Gibson so much that he headhunted Simon and Chris to run the venue’s Friday night sessions, playing host to Gil Scott-Heron, Common and Pharoah Saunders to name but a few. In 1999, Simon and Chris enticed Mouseorgan’s Dom Servini to join them on their mission and it’s Dom, together with Wah Wah recording artist Adam Scrimshire and Bopperson who have taken the label to the next level in the label’s most recent carnation.
The trio are unleashing releases from artists as diverse as Hackney Colliery Band, Lea Lea, Bev Lee Harling, Paper Tiger, Resonators and many more. The label’s parties, live shows and club nights are legendary – from the Scala and Oval Space in London, to sessions across the globe.
Don’t miss Wah Wah 45s & Allison Recordings taking over the decks with a special line-up on Sunday 24th April: Dele Sosimi (live PA), Lawn (DJ set) and DJs Dom Servini & Jamie Forgot. Artists’ details below!

✦ ABOUT DELE SOSIMI ✦
Dele Sosimi, the Nigerian-British Afrobeat Ambassador, Musician and Educator, has been at the heart of the global Afrobeat scene since relocating to the UK in December 1995. Having started his musical career with Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80 band in his teens, he then teamed up with childhood friend Femi Kuti to kick start the Positive Force - touring, recording and performing worldwide. Over forty years later, he remains a tireless ambassador for the unique musical movement all over the world. His blend of complex funk grooves, traditional Nigerian music, African percussion and an underlying sense of jazz combines with his virtuoso keyboard skills and rhythmic singing to make him one of the most respected Afrobeat authorities of his era.
Hackney-born and UK-based Dele has performed all over the planet, from the Montreux Jazz Festival to Mawazine Festival in Rabat Morrocco, Ollin Khan in Mexico, South Korea and the Copenhagen Jazz Festival to name a few. London's Jazz Café has said before “we're honoured that for so long we've been able to call Jazz Cafe the home of Dele's seminal afrobeat orchestra.” Dele was also Afrobeat music consultant for the National Theatre's production of Fela!, and he often performed with the late great Tony Allen and formed the Positive Force band with Fela's son Femi back in the late eighties. Because he was brought up with Fela's Egypt 80 performing five or more sets, four days a week, and rehearsing for at least six hours on the other two days of the week, for 50 weeks a year, Dele is a master of many different live formats.
These days, his mesmeric performances come in many different formats. There is the full eight to 15 piece Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra, a distilled six or seven-piece Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Experience and the Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Sextet, Quintet & Quartet which features the heartbeat of DSAO in an acoustic format with Dele on piano alongside Suman Josh on Double Bass, Afla Sackey on Congas and percussion and Kunle Olofinjana on Drums. An additional horn player or two make up the Quintet or Sextet. Each one offers a truly authentic and powerful Afrobeat sound. Dele also works with electronic artist Medlar and put out two 12"s during the pandemic, and with Latin flavoured collective Lokkhi Terra and Eparapo, led by DSAO bassist, composer and producer Suman Joshi.
Having achieved so much, Dele Sosimi's credentials are unquestioned. His work ethic is tireless. His devotion to his art is absolute. With him at the helm, Afrobeat is truly in safe hands.

✦ ABOUT LAWN ✦
London based instrumental duo, Lawn, were formed in 2019 as a collaboration between friends Joe Nicklin and Joe Martin. Combining live, acoustic drums with electronic and synthesised elements, their music takes influence from disco, psyche, jazz and hip hop. Their first single, "Tina" was released on Allison Recordings last year as the first taste of what’s to come from this talented pair and something to whet your appetite for their forthcoming debut long-player. “We started working on Tina in Spring 2020; lockdown had forced us to work remotely for the first time, sending loops and arrangements back and forth until a track began to take form. We bounced a demo originally entitled Quarantina Turner, a nod to the unusual situation that had made the writing of Tina possible.”

✦ ABOUT DOM SERVINI & JAMIE FORGOT✦
Dom Servini is a stalwart of the soulful music scene in London. As co-owner of the Wah Wah 45s record label (this year celebrating its twenty third birthday) and resident DJ at their club and live events, as well as being an internationally respected turntablist, Dom knows not only how to rock a party, but also has the knack for finding an exciting new artist or two. Dom has been responsible for signing Hackney Colliery Band, The Milk, Dele Sosimi, Honeyfeet, Resonators and many more. His energetic and open-minded mix of anything soulful, be it afro-beat, jazz, house or hip hop, make him a club favourite.
An up-and-coming DJ, as well as an amazing carpenter, Jamie Forgot first met Dom when he approached him about an interview at a club night in Leeds. Having cut his teeth with his own label, Forgot Records, he joined Wah Wah 45s as an intern in 2014 and in 2019 decided to set up the more electronic arm of Wah Wah 45s, Allison Recordings.
