Rompa’s Reggae Shack teams up with The Duppy Share to bring you a Boxing Day online rum tasting session with a twist. Expect reggae, award winning rum, carnival dancers, laughter, and lots of prizes, whilst at the same time attempting a world record  for the amount of people on an online rum tasting event at any one time*

With the focus on fun, Rum Tasting Online will be providing clients Rompa’s Reggae Shack with a selection of award winning rums consisting of 6 different 5cl bottles (or 12 shots if you like to look at it that way) plus loads more.

Alongside the tasting there will be prizes and super special guests in the audience who will be providing their feedback on the rums provided for this event. Heading up the special guest tasters is BEZ (Happy Mondays) and rum expert, Ian ‘Rum Ambassador” Burrell and Barry Ashworth (Dub Pistols) alongside a host of other guest tasters.

Mike Keat (Cuban Brothers) will act as the main host with the most and with LIVE sets from Uncle Dugs (Rinse FM) and Channel One Soundsystem this is one not to be missed.

The event will be raising money and awareness for TONIC (Music for Mental Health) and £1 from every ticket will be donated to TONIC as well as a separate donate option for those at the event. 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Simply purchase your tickets via Skiddle, leaving your address and telephone details and we’ll send you the tasting package containing 6 x 5cl rums, a golden Duppy Share cup, a slice of jamaican rum cake, some stickers, a score sheet. We will be sending the Zoom call info and individual passwords out on email 24 hours before the event on Christmas day, and also via text. Simply log on at 4pm, pour yourself a rum and sit back and enjoy the show. One thing though, Ice and limes are not included, you will need to source these as well as a pen to write the scores down and for some of the challenges  that are planned for the event.

WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

We are also aiming to break the online world record for the amount of people on an online rum tasting. The current Guiness record for the largest physical rum tasting currently stands at 786 participants and was conducted by Hugo de Jesús Alvarez Builes (Colombia). The current official World Record for an online tasting has been confirmed at 100 people. This attempt is not associated with Guinness and is an independent attempt.

FAQ’s

Q: HOW DOES IT ALL WORK

You buy a ticket, and we post you a box with all the goodies.

 All boxes will be sent out before the 18th December, the last purchase date is the 15th December, you will receive the Zoom meeting invitation 24 hours before the event. This code will be specific to your order.  We will have people on hand to help you get set up before the event. You will need to have Zoom on your computer to take part in the tasting and event. There are only 400 tickets for this event.

Q: WHAT WILL I NEED FOR THE EVENT

Your ticket will include, 6 x 5cl bottles (or 6 double’s if you want to look at it that way), award winning rums, a golden Duppy Share cup, some nibbles and more TBA - but you will need a pen and some paper to take some notes and to score the rums you will be tasting. You will be asked to show your scores to the camera after each rum has been tasted. Also ice and limes are always a good thing to have handy.

Q: WHAT RUMS WILL WE BE TASTING

A: For this particular session Rum Tasting Online have hand picked a selection of award winning rums for you to taste, including spiced, aged, operproof, smoked and fruit infused rums to ensure your taste buds are in for a treat, all to be tasted via a golden Duppy Share cup that’s included in the price.

Q: HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?

A: The tasting session will happen first and will take about 60 minutes to complete, then we will be handing over to our 2 special guest DJs for 2 hours of music and dancing. The whole event will take 3 hours.

Q: WILL I BE ABLE TO INTERACT WITH EVERYONE ON THE CHAT

A: Due to the volume of people on the call the audience will remain on mute and only the key taster/host will be speaking at any one time. We will then be inviting our special guest tasters to give their opinion, then will open up the chat for a chance for the audience to give their feed-back. We will be running spot prizes and competitions on the LIVE call.

Q: HOW WILL I GET A CHANCE TO CHAT

A: We’ll be using the chat box function and also asking people who are keen to speak to give their verdicts on the rums. This will be an old school, hands up kind of vibe and our host will pick people to give feedback.

Q: HOW LONG WILL THE TASTING TAKE?

A: We will spend approximately 10 minutes on each of the 6 different rums on offer in your particular tasting. It will take approximately 1 hour to taste all 6 of the rums. We then have 2 hours of DJs lined up for you.

Q: YOU HAVE SAID THERE ARE SPECIAL GUESTS, WHAT ARE THEY DOING?

A: We’ve called on some of our favourite characters, artists, DJs, MCs and general all round legends to take part in the tasting, they will be providing scores on the particular rums they will be tasting. We have 12 special guests in total. 

Q: IS THIS A GOOD IDEA FOR A CHRISTMAS PRESENT? 

A: 100% we have award winning rums here in the tasting kit, some rum cake, a super snazzy golden branded ‘Duppy Share” cup. Perfect for any friend, family or partner who’s into their rum and reggae.

Q: WHO / WHAT ARE TONIC?

A: TONIC are a charity who work with music and mental health, during these unprecedented times we’ve seen a  lot of people we care about suffering and we have decided to donate £1 from every ticket and set up a donate link if anyone feels like they would like to donate, some of the special guests have waived their appearance fee, it will now be donated to TONIC, we will confirm after the event exactly how much we are donating.

Q: DO YOU JUST DO RUM TASTING? WE LIKE WHISKY & GIN.

A: We also provide Whisky and Gin tastings. We also have access to investment casks from some of the best distilleries in Scotland.

Q: CAN WE BOOK PRIVATE SESSIONS FOR OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTIES & BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS?
