House of Kittens just raised the bar for Burlesque shows with the extraordinary Amatory Asylum. This was a really thoughtful, sexy, carefully crafted blend of theatre and erotic dance, all of which was executed with sparkling elan. To enhance the evening further the Kittens drew from the world of immersive theatre to produce an evening like no other. The result was, frankly, hotter than the surface of the Sun. Absolutely engaging, the evening passed too quickly in a blur of sensual imagery; the pacing, the choreography, the performances (and the performers) were all of such high quality that it was almost breathtaking,. The passion and joy that it took to produce this show was shining through. The audience stepped up to the mark, and for the most part came dressed up to the nines from outrageous trannies to elegant evening wear to full-on fetish. The prevailing mood was of some kind of seedy-sinful-victoriana, which was maintained completely until the last scene and the finale switched up the mood from to pure joy in the pleasure of dance - and the audience were invited to share a boogie with the cast. If you get a chance to see them, do it; you won't see a more intelligent, empowered, sexy show.

A great show with a well thought out professional edgy, erotic, fetish balance. Will definitely go to see them again. Hopefully in a different venue where it’s easier to see.
