What they say:

From melted cheese through to a swish Mayfair sushi spot, Andrey Datsenko is a man of many talents. His first restaurant, Soho's Melt Room, has proved madly popular, and it looks like TAKA, a joint venture with his sister, will enjoy a similar success. With a restaurant of the same name in Tokyo, TAKA's London opening takes over two storeys in Mayfair with authentic Japanese sushi and a dedicated basement sake bar.

What we say:

TAKA looks set to bring some serious Japanese credentials to Mayfair. The new restaurant is open for lunch and dinner serving sushi, sashimi and tempura which is prepared by cooks who have trained in Tokyo. As well as an intimate upstairs eating area which can seat 28, there is a date-perfect downstairs sake bar which also serves up Japanese whisky and cocktails such as a plum and thyme prosecco smash.
