Now Open

Actor, DJ, producer and now… sommelier. Set to launch on the 18th of October, Idris Elba's Porte Noire will be stocked with 800 wine bins, showcasing sips for all budgets, plus cocktails and classic French cuisine.

Named after Idris and David Farber’s (of Connaught Wines) own vino and Champagne brand, Porte Noire has set up shop in the unique Gasholders building of Coal Drops Yard. Inspired by the sultry bars of Europe, you can expect a trendy, upscale drinking den featuring a restaurant and one of the biggest tipple-tasting rooms in London. It’ll be the perfect place to wine down after a busy day in the city.

With such a well-stocked cellar, anticipate a delicious array of international bottles, with a focus on European labels. Not only will there be sips available by tap, but there will also be rare and vintage offerings for those of you who know a thing or two about these boozy, fermented grapes that we love so much.

While a beaut spot to quench your thirst, this bougie bar will also be dishing out brasserie-style fare inspired by the flavours of France. Highlights include the Oeuf Meurette, which features poached eggs in a red wine sauce (of course) accompanied by slow-cooked beef cheek. If you just fancy a few nibbles to go with your vino, you can also tuck into a top-quality selection of charcuterie and cheese platters.
