What they say:

After finding success in the sky at the top of Heron Tower, Duck & Waffle Local brings the same quirky dishes down onto the ground by opening a new venue in St James’s Market. While the new venue aims to be a more relaxed, cost-effective version of the brand, they’ll continue its imaginative streak through creative interior design and new, exciting dishes. The venue juxtaposes a farm-to-table diner aesthetic – with sculptural farm machinery hanging from the ceiling, timber fittings and a concrete floor – with call backs to its original restaurant, with a corrugated metal ceiling and a red, open kitchen.

What we say:

The Duck & Waffle is back with its local edition and it’s still boasting the quirky menu that they are known and loved for. The titular duck & waffle is back, along with fan-favourite BBQ Spiced & Seasoned Crackling Pigs Ears. And the newer dishes definitely sound intriguing, including The Duck Burger, which is served with a crispy duck leg, and the Duck Jam Doughnut, that combines the sweet and savoury worlds in one strange dessert. If all this delicious duck is making you feel thirsty, they’ve got a range of local craft beers – such as the aptly named Holy Duck IPA – and a decent selection of wine. They’ll also be offering a range of creative cocktails poured from taps.
