TBC Summer

What they say:

Spring might be nearly ending but that dreamy summer holiday couldn’t feel further away. Luckily, the dreams of a sandy Spanish beach are about to be temporarily banished with the newest addition to Bethnal Green’s flourishing restaurant scene, Chiringuito. Taking inspiration from the relaxed tapas bars of España, the venue sits in Bethy G’s Museum Gardens and next to the Grade I listed St John’s Church. Which is great news, as the compact venue doesn’t just boast patio and ground floor seating, but a rooftop terrace, so you can soak in those glorious surroundings.

What we say:

The tapas menu takes note of both Spain and South America. You can enjoy Catalan flatbread dishes named after some of the greatest Spanish cities, such as the ‘Barcelona’, made from Serrano ham with manchego on a paprika base. Meanwhile, South America peaks in in the form of their pulled jackfruit tacos, and there’s hybridisation going on with the mac n queso, a glorious mix of house mac with manchego & goats cheese, topped with fresh chilli and crispy chorizo. And what’s a Spanish feast without drinks: expect a range of coffees for early risers (such as cafe cortado), and mescal cocktails for the sunset-watchers.
