Sir Richard Steele

Description

The Steeles pub, previously know as The Sir Richard Steele, dates back to the Victorian times and has been the heart of the 'Steeles' Village for generations. Sir Richard Steele, c. 16-27 -1729 lived on the site of the pub and was a famous writer and the cofounder of the Tatler Magazine and the Spectator.

The Steeles was refurbished in 2017, but still retains many of the original features of the pub including the oil painted mural ceiling. They have added contemporary fabrics, comfortable armchairs and a mix of brass and timber finishes, all of which has been complimented with a foray of artworks from local artists and wallpapers from House of Hackney, giving the new look Steeles bundles of charm.

The Steeles offers a delicious dining and Sunday menu, along with a breakfast and sandwich menu. They can also cater for private functions and parties and a mixture of events taking place throughout the year.
