CampFruit Cabaret Festival: “LGB with the T” is a Celebration of Queer Voices in Solidarity

The stage is set, the mics are warmed, and the glitter is ready to fly! On Sunday 24 August, the CampFruit Cabaret Festival: “LGB with the T” will transform The Bedford Balham into a dazzling celebration of queer voices, hosted by the iconic Matron and the sensational Annie Maniac.

This year’s line-up promises a powerhouse of talent from across the LGBT+ choir community, raising their voices in solidarity with their transgender family:

🎶 Homonics
This Irish gay male trio, formed in 2015, are equal parts classy and sassy. Expect rock, pop, musicals, and maybe even a dash of the classical.

🎶 Quavors
Formed in Summer 2023, The Quavors spread the message of inclusivity, celebrating the unique and the shared experiences of queer life through song.

🎶 Members of the London Gay Men’s Chorus
As the largest gay chorus in Europe, the LGMC continues to entertain, educate, and inspire through music, delivering performances that lift hearts and raise spirits.

Hosted in the iconic Club Room of The Bedford Pub in Balham, this event will see talented singers take to the stage in duos, trios, and small vocal groups (up to eight members) to raise their voices in solidarity with their transgender family.

This fabulous evening is the brainchild of CampFruit Events founder, festival director, and drag matriarch Mark Ashton, also known as the one and only Matron. And joining her at the mic is none other than the sensational cabaret clown and queer performance artist Annie Maniac, bringing a double dose of camp chaos and compassion to the stage.

Together, Matron and Annie Maniac promise a night of cabaret that’s bold, joyful, and rooted in community.

“This event is a love letter from the LGBT choir community to our trans siblings,” says Matron. “At a time when solidarity matters more than ever, we’re coming together to sing, support, and celebrate.”

Don’t miss your chance to be part of this vibrant and affirming evening.

What an afternoon! Five Star Entertainment! Thank you Matron, Wilma, Queera Lynn and the band! What I love about the Camp Fruit afternoons is sitting comfortably at a table, drink of choice in hand taking in the most fabulous live Drag. I love how I’m introduced to acts I may not have necessarily gone out of my way to see before, as I didn’t necessarily know them. Seeing Queera Lynn for the first time was such a treat! What a fabulous act! I’m a huge fan of Wilma Ballsdrop already, and what an absolute delight it was to be entertained by her once more. Her singing and comedy is outstanding in equal measure. Matron was phenomenal, as always. Very much on form. We all laughed from start to finish, when we weren’t being dazzled by their wonderful musicality- all three of them. The band were fantastic too! Special mention to the keys player who really embellished those instrumental vocal breaks! Simply brilliant! I’d also like to say how organised, diligent and an all round star Owain is on the door. His administrative and organisational skills know no bounds; he’s truly an asset to Camp Fruit! Thank you all for making our Sunday truly special! Can’t wait for next time!
