The Weekend Hopper Fare Introduces Unlimited Bus And Tram Journeys This Summer

Blurred image of London's double decker busses passing one another in the street at dusk.

The Weekend Hopper Fare lets you travel for less this summer.

Summertime in London is filled with possibilities. Your morning starts with a coffee in South London and before you know it, you’re meeting friends for lunch in Soho, followed by drinks in Hackney Wick. All this bouncing around can add up, so luckily, the Weekend Hopper Fare has arrived to make bus and tram travel a little lighter on the wallet.

Between the 25th of July and the 31st of August, Transport for London is extending its popular fare scheme so passengers can make unlimited journeys for a single daily charge of £1.75 on weekends – perfect for exploring the city without constantly checking your balance.

Everything You Need To Know About London’s 2026 Summer Bus Fares

What Is The Hopper Fare?

The standard bus fare is £1.75 per journey, making it one of the cheapest ways to get around.

The Hopper fare was introduced in 2016 to allow unlimited bus journeys within one hour of your first tap-in. So if you’re changing routes or making short connections, you won’t be charged again within that window.

What Is The Weekend Hopper Fare?

The Weekend Hopper Fare is an extension of this, allowing for unlimited journeys for the price of one tap-in – all day long, throughout summer weekends.

That means you can tap in once and travel across London all day without paying again, whether you’re sightseeing, shopping, or getting around with friends. It’s designed to help fight the cost of living crisis, while making summer travel a bit easier on those busy weekends.

Does The Hopper Fare Work On Contactless Payments?

Yes, the Weekend Hopper Fare works on contactless payments. Simply tap in on the same card or device and your fare will be calculated and charged automatically.
