Our trip to the Clarendon Cocktail Cellar

clarendon cocktail cellar london review

Watch the bartenders rustle up unique and artsy cocktails first hand.

Whether you are visiting West London, in need for a place to stay, somewhere to have a relaxed tipple, or a little bite to eat, Clarendon Cocktail Cellar housed beneath The Artist Residence Boutique Hotel is SW1's newest addition - caters for all your basic needs in a rather ‘un-basic’ and artistically influenced fashion.

Venturing below ground you’ll find Stephen Ruse concocting an array of traditional cocktails all cleverly devised as an artistic reincarnation of famous artworks. My chosen tipple for the evening was ‘The Scream’ - an electric pink libation made up of Mezcal, Lime, Cassis, Agave, and Habanero Tincture - definitely one to keep your senses tingling with the Habanero chilli and bite. My second choice, the ‘Mona Lisa’ made with Rye, Vermouth, Barolo Chinato, Coffee Infused Cognac and Walnut Bitters - a brilliant take on the Old Fashioned with a sweet punch at the end. With a choice of 7 to choose from, you may need to play a game of ‘Ip, dip, sky, blue’ to make sure you actually get to taste a cocktail or two.

My recommendation - seek out the cosy sofas in the ‘Club Room’ settled next to the open fire and not too far away from the ping-pong table (incase you fancy a little game throughout the evening) to enjoy your cocktail choices and complimentary popcorn.
