Mile High: Destination Beirut

Though Dine Mile High has departed for now, for much of the same creative pop-up fun take a look at their current London offering, Rumble: Part Deux!

As London pop-up concepts go the folks behind Mile High, which launched in March, have captured the imagination with their destinations series which transport its guests back in time to exotic, beguiling global locations by transforming a secret hideaway on South Regent Street. After the successful Gothenburg launch in March, ex-Moro chef Oliver Templeton will be providing a four-course Levantine feast, coupled with vintage-inspired cocktails and DJ sets in May 2013. Destination Beirut is inspired by the café culture of 1950s Beirut when the city first established its reputation as the Paris of the Middle East. No shisha pipes here, though.

Mile High is inspired by the glamorous age of 1950s air travel, and features a 'departure lounge' which is home to Mile High's DJ division and cocktail bar. Enjoy 'check in' Campari cocktails before being whisked away for your dining experience. Non-diners can also gain access to the much coveted departure (cocktail) lounge after 9pm. Expect an array of authentic dishes with a modern twist such as Smoked Labneh with Sour Cherries, Broad Beans, Asparagus and Crisp Bread and then for dessert, Rose Water and Pomegranate Jelly with Cardamom Custard and fresh Pomegranate Seeds. All aboard!

For those that don't fancy eating; you can also just head to the Departure Lounge Bar for cocktails. Make sure you book ahead, mind. As these events are always popular. (Book online here).

Destination Beirut first opens its doors between 1st-4th May, with a return trip scheduled from 8th-11th May 2013 – tickets are £65 and include cocktails upon 'check in'. Mile High will host two further destinations throughout the year including Sicily in June and Mozambique in September.
