Din Tai Fung Celebrate World Vegan Day With A New Plant-Based Xiao Long Bao

Din Tai Fung Vegan menu dumpling

Din Tai Fung are giving their signature pork dumplings a plant-based upgrade in honour of World Vegan Day.

Just when you thought it was safe to try your luck in the Din Tai Fung queue, the Covent Garden eatery looks to double its crowd next month as it launches a vegan version of its signature Xiao Long Bao. Coming out in honour of World Vegan Day 2019, the new dish will be the latest item to join the restaurant's growing plant-based offering, and it's certainly no basic bao.

Like its pork-filled predecessor, the dumpling will go through the same 45-minute creation process that sees it finished with at least eighteen pleats of dough before being served up to you in a bamboo steaming basket. And alongside being stuffed full of shiitake, shimeji, enoki and eryngii mushroom, it will enriched with white truffle and truffle salt, both for flavour-balance and a little added indulgence.

The Mushroom and Truffle vegan Xiao Long Bao will be available from the 1st of November 2019 at Din Tai Fung, 5 Henrietta Street, London, WC2E 8PT. The dish is served in baskets of four (£7) or eight (£12.50).
