'The branches of the Astral Corridor weave through time and space, echoing fractured realities once thought forgotten. The archivists of the Black Archives work tirelessly to catalogue these tales, reaching into the furthest depths of the corridor to glimpse what can never be.’

Black Archives is a TTRPG story spotlight event, as our house GMs weave tales from across the multiverse. These original stories are self-contained and setting-agnostic, intended for both experienced and newer players. We'll be featuring a variety of indie TTRPG systems alongside our regular D&D5E offerings!

Each session will feature it's own unique system and requirements, so be sure to read the full event description before ordering.

Tonight, the tales you can expect to uncover are:

BETWEEN THE CRACKS

SYSTEM: KIDS ON BIKES

THE STORY: Most residents of Spicerville are totally unaware of the strangeness that exists just beneath the surface and between the cracks, preferring to live their day-to-day lives raising their families, mowing their lawns, and enjoying summertime barbecues. But the kids of Spicerville know better, since there are few options for entertainment in the village. Most spend their days exploring the woods, swimming and fishing in the canal, or finding any excuse imaginable to get out of the village and visit some of the surrounding — and far more exciting — communities accessible by bike.

PRE-GENS PROVIDED?: Character sheets and 'troupes' will be provided to kickstart character creation during the game.
CONTENT WARNINGS: Cults, demonic possession, drowning

THE ESCHATON

SYSTEM: D&D5E 2014
THE STORY: The radiant city left the earth behind aeons ago. It is said that Ithuriel themselves, a titan from another age, hew the vast rock into the air, and that the right hand of God, the Immortal Popess sacrificed her own daughter to the holy cause, to perpetuate the radiant engines that propel the city safely above the clouds. All this is scripture, well rehearsed. What is not known is how it all ends. A doomsday for Fifth Edition Dungeons & Dragons.

PRE-GENS PROVIDED?: No. Players will need to create level 6 characters and be comfortable playing with them.

CONTENT WARNINGS: Religious themes. Interrogation of said religious themes. Torture. Zealotry. Fascism/Christofascism. Heresy. Persecution. Murder. Violence. Systematic injustice.

My first time at the Arcanist Tavern and first time playing RPG, and I had so much fun! Really excellent starting point either for complete beginners or those who just want to try a new game.
