Carom Review - Soho Bar Review

Arrrrrrgh! Yep, that€™s how most of us feel when the weekend comes and after a full on week of having to be a responsible working adult, we just want to go out and forget that we have to do it all again next week. The mission? To do everything we can to make the weekend as good as possible.

With so much to do in London and a tiny weekend to fit it in to, I suggest a multi-functional venue to cram in a variety of €˜things to do€™ to tick off your list. By choosing to go to Carom in Soho, you can have a full night of eating, drinking, dancing, interactive gaming and meeting people and it€™s ideal for going with friends  and impressive for a date.

Décor and Vibe

Carom is not your typical authentic Indian restaurant and the chosen decor of the bar is modern and comfortable, with a hint of Indian culture. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the bar and dance floor, decked out in true Soho style, and you wonder if you are in the right place. When you  do walk in further, you are reminded  of the culture this venue drives from, when you see a variety of differently set out tables to dine at, with a gigantic chandelier here and an oversized ornate candelabra there.

Carom has a buzz to it, the type to be expected at any Soho bar; busy, friendly and fun, but none of this disturbs the dining experience, where you can enjoy a chat with your fellow diners without interference of whatever else is going on around you. As the night leads on and the last diners are finishing their meals, the bustling at the bar increases as more people are continuing their nights after their meals, or have just arrived for some tipple and dance.

A buzzing bar and DJs keep the party going at Carom

The dance floor is well sized for a restaurant and bar combined venue, fully equipped with DJ, lights, a bar at one end and the best commercial tunes to dance to. For those that have shaken their stuff on the dance floor to exhaustion, there is a comfy seating area for them to retire to. With so many different settings to Carom, it definitely has a lot to offer.

Clientele and Atmosphere

Carom stays true to the atmosphere expected in Soho and so, the regular type of Soho crowd can be seen at Carom as well as friends out for a meal and people out celebrating a birthday. It€™s also ideal for dates too due to the several settings Carom provides. So whether you€™re in need for an intimate date atmosphere, drink and good time by the bar or a catch up with a friend, rest assured that Carom can provide that kind of night for you.

Food and Drink

Indian Cuisine has never been so good and if you like authentically prepared meals, then this is the place to go. At Carom, it would seem that every dish has been chosen with care to work well together and the menu gives place to recipes that you probably wouldn€™t find anywhere else in London. Even the regular Indian recipes have a twist to them and are a must try, the only difficulty is; not spending too long deciding what to have, as there is still the Wine List, which is a separate task on its own, as there is so many great options of wine to accompany the meal.

Lamb 'Tawa Masala' Chops

Whether you are dining amongst friends or family, or on a date, Carom ensures that your experience is effortless and enjoyable with helpful attentive staff, great background music while you dine, a long list of accompanying drinks to suit every palette, food that sets off a party in your mouth and a party building in the room from the vibe in the venue.

The bar at Carom called Meza, is not one of those ordinarily small bars you get at some restaurants for €˜effect,€™ Like most bars in Soho, you can expect funky cocktails and people gathered around, drinking and chatting. Meza bar is well stocked.

Music and Events

Carom was named after a spice and an internationally played board game called Carom and so affectionately it has place in the venue too. Said to have been born in India, Carom (or Carrom) boards are made available for play amongst guests and many do come to this restaurant to play the game. Carom restaurant also arranges Carom gaming nights where people are invited, with no entry fee, to come in and play. All gaming nights are updated on their website.

When it comes to music, Caroms DJ plays up to date tunes of the current music charts in seamless danceable variations that anyone would find difficult not to move to. If it€™s been in the top 20 pop music charts within the past few months and there is a good remix to it, then you can expect to hear it, as well as past hits.

 Summary

This is the place for great food, great drinks and great atmosphere. If you want to go out and can€™t decide where to go, then go to Carom, with the nights they provide, you can€™t really go wrong.
