Our Review Of Nancy's London Bridge: Views Of The Shard And 70s Glamour While Sipping Signature Cocktails

I'm always excited by a new cocktail bar opening, especially one boasting views of the Shard and beyond. And hidden away inside a nondescript office block in London Bridge, Nancy's is a promising new addition to the scene. It takes its inspiration from the nearby Borough Market, using ingredients sourced from the vendors there to create a menu of 10 signature cocktails (alongside a roaming negroni cart).

This place is open every day, designed to be somewhere for every occasion - whether it's a few drinks after a day at the office, a midweek date night or dancing until 2am on the weekend. They're also all about the 70s, with a trendy space decked out in old-school glamour. This was all sounding pretty good to me, so I braved the climb up four flights of stairs to see what this place was all about.

Ambience & We Think Perfect For

  • Atmosphere: I loved the 70s glamour of this place, from the animal-print sofas to red velvet curtains, and windows reminiscent of old-school train carriages - ultra-Instagrammable. The atmosphere was very welcoming and fairly chilled when we visited, being early on a Thursday evening, but the DJ booth in the corner and a dancefloor area showed me that there's definitely more of a party vibe on the weekend. There's even a tiger-print pool table hiding round the back. Of course, the stunning views of the Shard and over London Bridge station were a real bonus too.
  • Perfect For: after-work drinks with a difference, or kicking off your weekend plans with a cocktail and a boogie.

Menu Highlights

Drink: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Marcona (£14) - a twist on the classic pisco sour, this drink showcases the produce of Tea2you. They mixed pisco with osmanthus tea, apricot eau-de-vie, almond and lime, resulting in a zesty, sky-blue concoction topped with a clean white foam. Blending sweet and sour perfectly, this one tasted just as good as it looked.
  • Miloco (£15) - a vodka-based blend of coconut caramel, mango and passionfruit; this drink is paradise for anyone with a sweet tooth. It was smooth, creamy and finished with a shot of coconut sake from Kanpai Sake, the UK’s first sake distillery. It had the appearance of a pornstar martini, but tasted unlike any drink I've tried before - definitely my favourite of the night.
  • Scatter Fall (£16) - clean and classy, this concoction featured Black Tot rum, Veuve Clicquot and a lemon and lime marmalade punch, sourced from Pimento Hill - who use Caribbean recipes to make their marmalade. It had a mild fizz to it, and a light, elegant flavour.
  • Tembleque (£15) - not one of their signatures, but they were running a limited-edition Hennessy menu to celebrate Bad Bunny's world tour. Intrigued, we ordered this cocktail made with Hennessy VSOP, coconut liqueur, soft serve and cinnamon. It was essentially dessert in a drink; the cinnamon flavour wasn't too overpowering but added a warming touch. They've also got their own soft-serve machine, which is used for other drinks too.

Our Overall Experience At Nancy's London Bridge

DesignMyNight Review Out Of 5: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

With so many bars in the area, it's difficult for somewhere new to stand out, but this place really impressed me. Nancy's menu is a true ode to Borough Market, really keeping in touch with the local community, and the views from four floors up were fantastic. I loved the 70s glamour, which was chic and not at all overdone, adding to the sophisticated vibe of their drinks. I will definitely be returning on a weekend, as I can imagine that it gets a lot more lively when DJs are playing, and I'm intrigued to try even more of their inventive serves.
