Remember the dead, while crafting! Delve into the colourful Mexican festival of Dia de los Muertos in our fun sewing workshop where you can embroider a traditional Sugar Skull and turn it into a brooch or keyring.
Day Of The Dead is an annual festival held in Mexico to remember friends and family who have died, and it’s done so with a vibrant fiesta spirit. Embrace the good vibes by making your own sugar skull, which are traditionally placed on the graves of the deceased.
Under the guidance of Craft Queens Momtaz Begum-Hossain and Mia Vilcins you'll get two hours of stitch-time to sew either a brooch or keyring and have access to the biggest and most colourful stash of craft supplies you’ll ever come across, featuring beads, buttons, feathers, sparkles and embroidery floss in every colour of the rainbow. You’ll be taught how to master simple embroidery skills in this hand-stitching workshop where you’ll leave with a finished skull.
Never sewn before? Don’t worry! We’re here to help and if you’re a dab hand with the stitch already, you can get on and embellish your skull to the max – there’s a prize on the night for our favourite one!
Come alone or with friends. At The Make Escape we’re a friendly bunch, so you’ll instantly feel at ease.
What’s included:
- Tuition from two craft experts, Mia and Momtaz
- All materials including felt, stuffing, sequins, beads, sparkles and brooch backs
