Failed By The State (UK Documentary - 2018 - 25 minutes)
Filmmakers Ish and Daniel Renwick
Failed By The State was recently awarded this year's Best Documentary Prize at the 24th Portobello Film Festival, London, which looks to the truth behind The Grenfell disaster and its aftermath from the perspective of the community who continue to be directly affected by local Council inaction and government spin and evasion. This investigative documentary is incisive and provides hitherto untold insights into this tragedy inflicted upon the good people of Grenfell and the Latimer Road environs. A well deserved award winner from two rising film makers.
A Good Man… Is Hard to Find (UK Documentary - 2005 - 60 minutes)
Directed by Greg Wise. Exec Produced by Andre Singer
Directed by Greg Wise. Exec Produced by Andre Singer
A documentary made about Jack Good, the legendary British TV producer. The first man to bring rock 'n' roll to the UK via 1950s variety shows Six-Five Special and Oh Boy! Good was later invited to the USA by ABCTV where he fronted, lit and designed the format for Shindig at the height of Tamla Motown and The British Invasion Beat Groups such as The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and The Beatles. Within a decade he’d opted to change profession and learned to paint in the style of Velasquez, while living out his life as a hermit inside a shack in New Mexico desert before finally returning to the UK to become a Monk!

Secreted away down the same little side street used in the opening sequence of Harry Potter and tucked beneath The Phoenix Theatre lies our charming escape from the London norm. Our lively and nostalgic theatre bar & Restaurant is located in the original dressing and rehearsal rooms of The Phoenix Theatre where Laurence Olivier made his debut on stage in the 1930s in "Private Lives" with Noel Coward and Gertrude Lawrence. With fascinating signed posters, paintings and pictures from decades of theatre productions, a restored art deco interior and hidden treasures lurking in every corner, there's something new to see on every visit, and you never know who might decide to give an impromptu performance!
