NinetyOne Living Room welcomes you to an extra-special R&B addition of The Nest Sessions, featuring the the talented Mic Lowry! Jazz collecitve TUCAN, the hosts and curators of a monthly night of live sessions and jams here at Ninety One Living Room, will be joined on stage by the British vocal harmony group to bring an R&B experience like no other! The collective invite you to join the ‘TUCAN Family’ by enjoying good vibes and great music, or getting up to jam and do your thing!
About Mic Lowry
A five-piece vocal harmony group hailing from Liverpool, Mic Lowry come equipped to the Nest Sessions with a decade of success under their belt. They appeared on BBC Introducing Merseyside stage and BBC Radio 1Xtra. In 2014 they won the MOBO Unsung Award, in 2015 were nominated for the BET Best International Newcomer and in 2016 won Liverpool's GIT Award.
Mic Lowry's huge hits Oh Lord and Don't Tempt Me are examples of their vocal range and infectious melodies, and this has been further proven by their latest single Flowers. A true R&B banger, Flowers shows Mic Lowry's unwaivering consistency and offers a glimpse into the R&B journey we will be taken on when they take to the stage alongside TUCAN. This will be a special one.
About TUCAN
The Jazz collective have embarked on their journey of the exponentially growing UK Jazz scene. Their sound is the musical representation of community and togetherness, with multinational members and cross-cultural inspirations.
TUCAN’s fresh take on Jazz sees them incorporate Soul, Funk and RnB, with the injection of West-African and Latin American rhythms and melodies, drawing inspiration from the likes of Snarky Puppy, Robert Glasper and Ezra Collective. As TUCAN solidify their focus on bringing people together, their live shows have blossomed through their energetic and captivating performances, often leaving the audience moving and grooving.
Formed in 2017, the band met on the music programme at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. The collective soon made a name for themselves, with a gig supporting internationally renowned Chicago Jazz Drummer, ‘The Beat Scientist’, Makaya McCraven, with their debut release of their single ‘Flight’, recorded and filmed at the famous Abbey Road Studios. With the band now based in London, TUCAN the collective are constantly growing their fanbase with their releases; their debut EP ‘LIBRE, and accompanying Remix Album ‘LIBRE: THE REWORKS’ showing their infectious energy and vestatility.
