Jazz Lates is a series of intimate Jazz events that take place in our wonderful living room. On Saturday 15th October it is with great pleasure that we welcome All Day Breakfast Cafe to the living room stage, who are celebrating the one year anniversary of their debut EP Builder's Brew. They will be followed by a unique set from Jelly Cleaver until close!
ABOUT ALL DAY BREAKFAST CAFE
All Day Breakfast Cafe are a seven-piece all-female group who have crowned themselves as South London's favourite disco band. Hailing from the London jazz scene, the band was born just in time for lockdown 2020. Having put their energy into the recording studio instead, they released their debut EP Builder's Brew (a play on Miles Davis' psychedelic jazz album Bitches Brew) in 2021. They've been interviewed on NPR, BBC Radio 1xtra and Jazz FM and championed by the likes of Jamz Supernova, Steve Lamacq and Robert Elms. They’ve been the face of Spotify’s Jazz UK playlist and exploded onto the live scene with performances at Wilderness, Boomtown and London Jazz Festival. They love to bring the party to their live shows with breakfast-themed games like egg-and-spoon races, pancake flipping contests and dance-offs. They're on a mission to spread disco-joy and to get everyone dancing!
ABOUT JELLY CLEAVER
Jelly Cleaver is the lead in All Day Breakfast Cafe and spiritual jazz ensemble The Forever Presence, as well as playing guitar for other projects and jam nights. Jelly has been called “exceptional” by Clash magazine, “a rising star” by Dummy Magazine and “outstanding… one to watch for sure” by BBC 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson. She’s received the Steve Reid Innovation Award, is a Serious Take Five artist, and was nominated for an Ivors Composer Award. Receiving praise from both sides of the Atlantic, she’s previously been KEXP and KCRW’s track of the day, Dummy’s track of the week, and has been interviewed on NPR, Bandcamp, BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1xtra, BBC Radio London and Jazz FM. Jelly will bring her deep and eclectic love of music to her DJ set, complimenting the already high-energy sound All Day Breakfast Cafe will bring to the stage. Jelly will take to the decks from 11pm to close.
