Ninety One is proud to welcome an exciting new duo, performing live for the first ever time on our living room stage! 22a presents Lorenzo Morresi and Tenderlonious as they re-ignite their mutual love for Italian Library, italo-disco and jazz-funk music, with a first time live performance of their acclaimed 2022 album, Cosmica Italiana.
The night will also feature DJ sets from Dennis Ayler, Tenderlonious and Lorenzo Morresi. We're ready to groove, come and join us!
ABOUT COSMICA ITALIANA
It was their mutual love of 60s and 70s Italian soundtracks that brought Lorenzo Morresi and Tenderlonious together. After performing alongside each other at a festival in Italy back in 2017 they quickly bonded over a shared love of Jay Richford and Gary Steven’s album ‘Feelings’ - which, in reality, is the Italian duo Brugnolini and Torossi. The idea was quickly conceived to put together a fresh take on that sound, starting with that early 1970s Italian style, using contemporary analogue inspired arrangements combined with experimental and joyful 'tongue-in- cheek' sounds. Cosmica Italiana is an uplifting and melodic, synth heavy, cosmic, jazz-funk journey that received support and praise from Gilles Peterson, John Gomez, Jamie Cullum, Deb Grant, Huey Morgan and many more. The band will also be playing music from Lorenzo Morresi's latest album, Pop Flop, a majestic collection of infectious, funk heavy, jazz-fusion jams.
