Taking over the space which was previously home to Clove Hitch, Bread & Butter has landed in Liverpool. With a focus on country cuisines and the simplicity of basic ingredients, this Hope Street restaurant is serving up French comfort food and seasonal dishes. Co-founder and head chef Stephan Sundermeier has worked in some of the city's top eateries, including Everyman Bistro and Homebaked Anfield, since moving from Hanover seven years ago. Local produce and accessible ingredients are at the forefront, with a menu inspired by the kitchens of families in the French countryside. Think house-made liver paté and grilled figs with Gorgonzola and honey through to rich mains like boeuf bourguignon and the signature bread and butter pudding. All to be washed down with local beers and organic wines.
