Pucks, Vibes & Sharing Fries: Was A Visit To Electric Shuffle The Dream Friday Night?

DesignMyNight Drops By | DesignMyNight

If the idea of chugging shots on a Friday night brings you to tears, but you’re not quite at the bed-by-8pm stage of your life, it can be hard to find good things to do. So we headed over to Leeds' Electric Shuffle - the brand's first venture outside of London - in search of an antidote to dull evenings at home and a fun way to freshen up our usual drinking routine.

Electric Shuffle Review Leeds City Centre | DesignMyNight

Electric Shuffle is a beauty to follow on from all those rave Flight Club Leeds reviews, as this sister venue is just as impressive.

Located on the corner of Park Row and Headrow, Electric Shuffle is unassuming from the outside but inside is a whole different story. The décor is stunning, a gorgeous mix of modern and quirky - think millionaire mansion meets the entrance to Narnia. It’s not just looks that make the vibes here so good. There is a DJ playing music that's catchy enough to get you moving, without detracting from the games and conversation - all mingled with the soft sound of people laughing as they play.

True to its name, Electric Shuffle takes the humble shuffleboard and gives it a super-charged makeover. Costing £13 per person for 90 minutes, there was choice of four games to play on our visit, which were chosen and controlled though an interactive screen - a feature that could also be used to get table service and select teams. The rules for each game varied, and we quickly found out that you could never get too cocky, as luck really played a part in who scored what. Changing up the games kept our time fun and exciting, while replays on the screen for the (occasional) good shot were a great way to stoke the competition.

Electric Shuffle Leeds Drinking Activity | DesignMyNight

This is sure to become a favourite of Leeds drinking activities, or sober fun if you prefer it that way.

When it comes to food, the menu is decent - a crowd-pleasing mix of small plates, sides, sharing platters and pizzas. For those who don’t care to share (we see you), there are burgers and wraps too. We ordered the salt and pepper squid (£8.95), the BBQ buttermilk chicken bites (£8.55), and the cheese and bacon loaded waffle fries (£8.95), followed by two surprisingly large pizzas (chargrilled vegetable, £15.95 and spicy nduja, £16.95). The food was good, nothing gourmet but crispy where it needed to be and boasting the flavours to match. The dips were amazing; from an aioli that would wipe out Dracula to a mysteriously named 'green dip' that I could drink by the bucket, it was a sauce-lover's dream here.

For those who like their meal with a side of booze, this place also has you covered. Think beer, cider, wine, and cocktails, with alcoholic slushies too if you don’t mind risking brain freeze. We had a selection of cocktails between us, where stand outs included the Ayrton's margarita (£8.95) - a muddle of Patrón silver tequila, Edinburgh rhubarb and ginger liqueur, lime and agave - alongside a lavender and echinacea gin-laced serve called lychee secret (£9.95).
