SIPSMITH AND HAM YARD HOTEL PRESENTS HOT GIN ROOF RETURNS WITH A POKE
Sipsmith, passionate pioneers of London’s gin renaissance and Ham Yard Hotel have teamed up once more to bring back the pioneering hot gin experience for the counter-culturists, contrarian natured and ‘ginthusiasts’.
Back by popular demand, Hot Gin Roof returns with a 'poke'. Firmdale Hotel’s Group Mixologist, Eoin Kenny and Sipsmith Master Distiller, Jared Brown have delved back into the history books and discovered that not only was gin first sipped hot before there was access to central heating, but also that historically these drinks were heated using a red hot ‘poker’ taken straight from the fire.
Cocktails will be ‘poked’ piping hot in front of guests using special blacksmith crafted pokers, otherwise known as loggerheads. Once plunged into the cocktail this historical bar tool will heat it instantly, caramelising the sugars and producing a wonderful aroma of ‘ginny’ magic. From the famous Hot Gin classics like the steaming Hot G&T and Singapore Sling (beautifully garnished with a barbequed pineapple slice), to a ‘poked’ porter based cocktail recipe from 1929, called the Hangman’s Blood; this line-up of delicious hot gin drinks will banish the post-Christmas blues of all ginthusiasts.
Wrap up in woolen blankets on Ham Yard Hotel’s beautiful and exclusive roof terrace with sweeping views over the London skyline and become immersed in a brave new world of hot gin.
Hot Gin Roof pop-up will run from Wednesday 17th January until Saturday 24th February in 90 minute sessions. Tickets can be purchased from 2nd January 2018 costing £18 per person, and include a complimentary welcome Hot G&T, followed by a cocktail of choice, and an introduction by the Ham Yard and Sipsmith team.

HAM YARD HOTEL
In the midst of Soho and moments from Mayfair, Ham Yard Hotel has an urban village feel. The hotel revolves around a tree-filled garden with a bronze sculpture centrepiece by Tony Cragg.
Alongside the hotel's 91 individually designed bedrooms and suites are 24 apartments, 13 independent stores and a restaurant and bar with outdoor dining.
There is a drawing room and library, Spa and Gym, theatre, private event rooms and a 1950's style bowling alley. The rooftop terrace, another of the hotel's private events spaces, has sweeping views of the Soho skyline.
Interiors are designed by Kit Kemp in her award-winning modern British style.
