- Fine Dining Restaurant
Description
Lyla, located in a Georgian townhouse on Royal Terrace in Edinburgh, is the most refined and ambitious project yet from acclaimed Scottish chef Stuart Ralston. Opened in 2023 on the former site of the late Paul Kitching’s 21212, Lyla is a 28-cover restaurant that delivers what Ralston calls “unapologetically fine dining.”
The experience begins in a sleek upstairs drawing room, complete with a Krug champagne trolley, dramatic lighting installations, and ageing fridges showcasing house-made charcuterie and premium seafood. The main dining room below is calm and elegant, with crisp white linens, grey velvet chairs, and soft, sculptural lighting that enhances the intimate atmosphere.
The cuisine at Lyla is seafood-focused fine dining, celebrating the best of Scotland’s coastal bounty. The tasting menus - ranging from five to ten courses - highlight line-caught fish, sustainable shellfish, and organic meats and vegetables sourced from top UK farms and local foragers. Ralston, who previously made his mark with Aizle, Noto, and Tipo, earned a MICHELIN Star in 2025, just two years after opening Lyla.
With chefs finishing and serving dishes tableside, the experience is deeply personal and immersive. Lyla has quickly become one of Edinburgh’s most sought-after dining destinations, praised for its precision, elegance, and sense of tranquillity.
