Really poor customer service, rude bar staff and was left to find my reserved table on my own. Disappointing start to a night out. Quickly moved on to somewhere else. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 06 May 2017

Came in and asked for my booking. Man told us it was around the corner on the other side of the bar. Walked around and there was no table free, people sitting everywhere. So we went to sit at a window table that said it was reserved but didn't have a name on it thinking this could be the table. We were quickly removed due to staff siting another party there. We were eventually given a table through in the restaurant part. I had originally booked a table for 15 people and we were put at a table for four people. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 29 Apr 2017

Even though a workmate was too drunk for entry for our meal, Stuart was great. Very helpful and I agreed with him 100%. Deposit back with no hesitation. I'll be back for the half price cocktails that I was looking forward too!! visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 22 Apr 2017

After trying to book in advance and then being told we had been put on guest list we were then refused entry with multiple others who had also been guaranteed guest list due to to many people being let in. This also meant that we were made to wait outside for over 30 minutes until a decision was made by management as to whether myself and everyone else could gain entry visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 22 Apr 2017

Booked Slug & Lettuce on George Street for a work leaving night. We were all impressed by the quality of the food (we ordered platters of buffet food). The food was brought out later than expected, but that wasn't too much of a problem. We had a really good evening there, however there were issues with the bill. We were over charged, which was rectified, however this did take over half an hour and several conversations with the manager to do! Service could have been better. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 01 Apr 2017

Want to say a massive thank you to Stuart and the rest of the staff for making my friends retirement go without a hitch. I had booked the 2 course set menu for 63 girls and pre ordered drinks for the day. The staff were wonderful and served lunch promptly. The drinks were there waiting for us coming in. Then to top the day off they presented Isla a bunch of flowers for her retirement. Thank you for a lovely time guys, look forward to seeing you all soon Michelle Graham x visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 30 Mar 2017

Food was lovely, however the service was awful and the restaurant was very loud. It was not the relaxed, enjoying meal I was expecting. We had a mail meal and a cocktail and left asap. Trying to get a server's attention was almost impossible. Won't be returning. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 24 Mar 2017

A very enjoyable evening with the party Comments with the Slug and Lettuce that will make us reconsider returning; 1) Music was too load. 2) More staff were required on the bar - 30 minutes wait was too long. 3) Male toilets were disgusting. 4) Electronic booking system stated the booking was 19.30 it was actually 21.00 - caused panic with the group. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 18 Mar 2017

Food and place was lovely but at 5.30pm on a Saturday night they "had sort of ran out of brandy" the girl serving wasn't the most pleasant....after speaking to a higher member of staff re the brandy....he said there should be a bottle and would go check, we are still currently waiting on him coming to say yes or no....so overall customer service not the greatest!! visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 04 Mar 2017

Amazing value for money. Staff were lovely. Service seemed a little slow but as someone who has previously been in this line of work I can tell you this was not because of the staff which were there. It was because there were not enough staff in to deal with the volume of customers. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 27 Feb 2017

My friends and I had booked a table for 10 at 4.30pm so we could have cocktails before we went out - they needed the table back for 6.30pm which was fine by us. When we got there we had ordered cocktails and then a waitress came and asked if we would like to order our food which we had said we were just having drinks. The manager then came to our table and we were told if we weren't having food we had to leave and go into the bar area (where there is no seats to accommodate such a large group) as they needed the table back, which in fact was a lie as the table was booked for us. I could totally understand if the restaurant was really busy but there were ALOT of empty tables and for groups too - so they didn't need the table they were just being awkward. Me and my friends then felt we were treated unfairly so left, also due to the fact they were making us feel uncomertable if we didn't leave. This put a whole downer on the rest of our night, I wouldn't usually complain as I really love and enjoy this place, this is the first time it's happened and I'm extremely disappointed with the service. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 25 Feb 2017

Booked for a special occasion, however, no reference was made to this upon arrival or throughout. Food was nice and we would have preferred to have stayed for a bit longer, however, the service for drinks was extremely slow, despite there being ample staff and lots of empty tables, so we decided to leave and take our money elsewhere. Booking went ok. Was a busy night so took a bit longer to take order and serve the food. Salmon with salad and salmon was 5/5 - cooked well and fresh. Nachos was 2/5 - fresh dips, plenty quantity but had been standing too long before serving so cheese congealed. Smothered chicken 2/5 - small chicken, not many peas, chips freshly cooked but not many, overall meal very small. We paid half price Monday and 2 out of 3 meals not worth the full prices quoted. Servers were pleasant. Toilets not being checked enough as there was no soap or toilet roll in ladies but was replenished once notified. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 19 Dec 2016

We visited as a party of 8 Our server was very friendly and polite. Food and drinks great. However, our visit was spoilt when we arrived. We were shown to a table where one of our party was seated in a soaking wet seat which turned out to be coffee and stained her clothing for her whole day out ! There were plenty other empty seats and this should have been changed as I overheard one server(not ours) say he was aware of the soaking seat. considering the restaurant was so busy, the service was not too shabby. we had booked our table in advance and had not really given ourselves enough time for our meal, having not allowed for the wait with service. however that was not the fault of the restaurant. Very enjoyable - 5 of us out for a wee pre-christmas catch up. Food good and very reasonable wine prices which at this time of year is a real bonus. 🎅 visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 13 Dec 2016

Booked a table for drinks for a party of 10 on a christmas night out. Turned up, no table reserved for us, shown to an area where we were just left to push the tables together ourselves. No drinks on offer, this is a christmas event?? Wont be back visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 13 Dec 2016

Service quite slow and fries with meal were barely warm and needed to be replaced but didn't arrive until we had finished the rest of our meal which was disappointing. Staff friendly though. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 13 Dec 2016

Unfortunately I did not have a great experience in the Slug and Lettuce I was there for a meal on Saturday night but found the service to be slow, there was only two waiting staff that I could see so they were under pressure. We ordered wine and are meal was finished and it still had not arrived, so we cancelled it, at 8:30 the bar was messy and had a lot of drunk people there. Feel that the crowd was too young for me, so I will not unfortunately be returning on my next visit to Edinburgh visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 03 Dec 2016

we found the music was far too loud to be in a restaurant. we could barely hear each other speak. The menu was quite basic for the prices you were charging. The cocktails, although half price, were okay, but there was no taste of rum at in the two different ones that I had. (Mojito and one with mango) Staff very helpful and restaurant and toilets were spotlessly clean, but don't think we will be booking the restaurant again visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 03 Dec 2016

Shocking service, extremely rude door staff! And waited an hour for food to be told one of our dishes had not been put through. Lady serving us apologised and took it off the bill but she was running around mad. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 03 Dec 2016

Lovely meal in the slug and lettuce on Thursday night. Only a few little points we noticed....the front bar had some sort of spillage making the whole bar area stink so so badly, we were so glad we were in the restaurant part, also our waitress was so so grumpy and a little rude and took ages to bring our drinks when the place wasn't even that busy. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 01 Dec 2016

Saturday 26/11/16 late lunchtime (2pm) seemed to be very busy and a lot of people could not get a table and so they were turned away. We had booked - so were ok. However there were plenty of empty tables, which remained empty for the whole time we were there (2 hrs).... which was a bit odd... My smothered chicken was a tiny portion (which is unusual for S&L, portions are normally fine). Staff as always, were very good, attentive, friendly, etc. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 26 Nov 2016

The meal was not as enjoyable as our last visit. I had veggie burger which was very dry and one of the other people in our party had chicken which was not very nice either. Don' t know if it was because they were busy but that is no excuse for poor food. visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 26 Nov 2016

Really nice food and great cocktails, but the drinks service was very slow. Not sure if you were short staffed, but we easily could have had a lot more drinks and spent a lot more money if they had been quicker to come. Easily 15-20 minutes between ordering and getting your drink. Lovely place though and nice atmosphere! Would come back definitely! visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 12 Nov 2016

We were not allowed in, as my son was only 17 and the table was booked for 7.30. I was not advised that this would be a problem when I booked saying it was my daughter's 18th. It was really difficult to find somewhere else to eat at that time on a Saturday evening and it spoilt my daughter's birthday. Not very happy visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 12 Nov 2016

They brought out the wrong order for my partner didn't really apologise and instead of taking my meal away as well they left mine so I had to keep eating to avoid it getting cold. By the time my partners meal had come out I had finished mine. Also wasn't offered any sauces for my dinner. A very uncomfortable dinner and dining experience. Most other places would've taken the meal off the bill visited The Slug and Lettuce George Street on 04 Nov 2016
