After having booked online in December for a table in April I arrived with my 76 year old mother and husband to be told they could not find my booking . I was asked if I was sure it was not the George street one I'm so glad I had my email to prove I had booked . We were asked to take a seat till they checked there files but there were no seats and my 76 year old mother had to stand . Then they came back and took us to our table . I can't fault the service or food once we were seated but not happy about the mix up with my mum having to stand around and wait visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 15 Apr 2017

Booked for 20 people for my daughters 18th birthday and we had a fantastic day. The buffet was lovely although the extra natchos I ordered are way over priced for what they were! The waiter was very attentive and he done a great job of keeping the drinks flowing! the cocktail class was fun! visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 18 Mar 2017

Table was sticky when we sat down at it and took a while to find someone to clean it. Ordered our food, which was tasty but we then sat with empty plates in front of us for over an hour with no waiter/waitress asking us wether we wished anything else or even to take plates away - when we called a waiteress over they did not appear that interested. Poor service, would not return. visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 04 Mar 2017

Booked a table for 8 , arrived and had to push tables together to accomodate, buffet arrived and was very small portions. At no point did any staff ask if all was ok possibly due to fact they were very under manned!! Waited 30 minutes for 8 cocktails which was very disappointing. Our table was booked for 6 people at 5:30. We arrived to be told they only expected 2 of us, but we had email proof we had booked for 6. From here on the service was poor, the waitresses didn't come over and we had to hunt them down to ask to order our starters and then our mains. We didn't get our main course until 7:15 which was ridiculous because we arrived at 5:30. When the food arrived it was cold and very disappointing. I had ordered the burger with bacon and cheese. There was hardly any cheese in it and one piece of shrivelled fry bacon and it was all cold. I would have said something at the time but the waitress didn't even come to check out meal was okay. The waitress then put the wrong amount into the card machine and would have over charged us if we hadn't seen what had happened. Thouroghally dissapointed and not worth the money. We came last year and had a good experience but this year it was a real let down. visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 14 Feb 2017

Despite booking a table and waiting to be seated, nobody came over when we arrived. There were two girls who were standing talking who kept looking at us but did not come over. One looked like she might be a manager. Eventually I went to them and was told to sit anywhere as it was "dead". Table service would have been nice as I had to stand at the bar for quite a while every time I wanted to order something, despite it being very quiet. Really enjoyed the food which we didn't have to wait long for. Although my friend had to go and wait and the bar again to ask for guacamole and sour cream (which was supposed to come on her burrito) only to be told they didn't have any. It would have been good to be told that when we ordered. Heard two women discussing some customers who had complained very loudly which didn't seem very professional. There was a very friendly guy behind the bar and the girl who brought our food over was very helpful, the food was good and I really like the decor but unfortunately the service wasn't great. visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 14 Feb 2017

Service was pretty terrible. Waited ages to be served, ordered 3 starters, 1 came out then 20mins later the ther 2 came! We had all just come from a long day at work so we're very hungry... we waited patiently for our main course, they came and my side order of sweet potato fries never came. Finally after asking 3 times the waiter came with them and a jug of water. They didn't seem to know what they were doing, the bill was all wrong and we ended up getting overcharged and I had to pay because everybody else had left. I will not be back, the restaurant on George street is 100% better! I will go there again next time visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 25 Jan 2017

Service was very poor considering that we came in when it was still quiet before it got too busy. One of our meals were not what we ordered. Ordered two cocktails and only one was brought over. Once we alerted the staff to this we had another 20 minutes to wait for the second one. Having used Slug & Lettuce across the UK I was used to cheerful service, pleasant surroundings and good quality (albeit rather basic) food. Sadly found booking the Edinburgh branch for a pre theatre meal to have been a total mistake - the only saving grace is on asking to see the manager when our meals eventually arrived, she agreed the service was shocking and wrote off the bill - we left without eating the mains. We will not be back although it certainly was a 'one of a kind' dining experience. On arriving we were bluntly told 'there are no tables' - enquiring whether we had booked might have been a better opening line! After waiting at the table for 20 minutes I walked over to the bar and eventually was served and asked to order food and drinks. On being asked where I was sitting I was told to go back and sit down as it is table service - not that you'd notice! Plenty of staff wandering around looking lost, but none taking orders. Drinks took a further 15 minutes to appear followed by what I consider to be an extremely over priced portion of nachos - £8.99 for a few scattered on some paper and 4 small dishes of accompaniments is outrageous, even for central Edinburgh, A further long wait saw the waitress reappear to tell me the dish I had ordered was not available - surely that must have been known when I placed the order 45 minutes before? Reluctantly I then chose the Lasagne. 15 minutes later I observed a waiter with a lasagne leave the kitchen and wander around the restaurant offering it to 3 tables before taking it back to the kitchen. He returned a few minutes later and placed the lasagne on the table - it looked very dry and cold so I asked if this was the same lasagne I had seen him wandering around the restaurant with - to his credit he was honest enough to say 'yes'. At that point I asked to see the manager, sent the food back and said we were leaving. My only sadness is my partner did not get to try her Pie, but it looked very dry and uninviting so probably no real loss. All in all a very disappointing experience, with the only redeeming feature being the honesty of the waiter and manageress in agreeing the experience at the restaurant is currently totally unacceptable visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 29 Dec 2016

Couldn't find our reservation, service was incredibly slow and salmon served was over cooked and inedible - we made staff aware and they said they'd sort it out - that resorted in a 15% deduction from the price of the salmon meal - that was my 89 year old Mothers dinner and the few mouthfuls she had gave her chronic indigestion We won't be visiting again visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 29 Dec 2016

We received our starters fairly promptly but then had to wait over an hour for our main courses. We had to forget desserts as we had theatre tickets. How was it? Oh my goodness,.....where shall we begin?! On arrival we were shown to our reserved table. As expected it was 2 tables pushed together, however one of our tables, which our 2 friends sat down to, was very sticky and had salt spilled all over it. It was set with a napkin each with a fork placed on top of each napkin. This was never rectified throughout our visit. 2 starters were ordered, and after these were finished the waiter asked me to remove my knife and fork from the plate as I would need them for my main course (this is not good practice) Our main course took an age to come, we thought we had been forgotten about, especially after a family who had arrived the same time as us, had already finished their meal and left the restaurant. My wife asked the waiter if we were getting our main courses, and this seemed to agitate him. He sharply replied that we were getting them, and, approx 1 min later he appeared with them. Both my wife and I chose the Lebanese-Style Chicken Tostadas, a firm favourite of ours which we have had many times before. What was placed before us was by far below the standard which we have previously enjoyed. My wife's meal was, shall we say, worse than mine, if that was at all possible. On top of my wife's flatbread was 5 pieces of peppers, 2 tiny pieces of red onion and 5 pieces of chicken breast in the middle, and that was it. My own meal had a bit more of the mentioned three toppings. What was most obvious was that the sour cream was missing altogether. When our waiter passed my wife mentioned to him that there was no sour cream on our meals and also that there was hardly anything on our plates anyway. The waiter said that he didn't know if they had any sour cream, again and again. My wife pointed out to him that unless you have all the ingredients to make a certain dish, you should not go on to serve this up. Again he would just reply that he didn't know if there was any available. Eventually he asked my wife if she would like to order a different main meal, but as we were going to the Theatre, this was not an option. The waiter then asked if we would like him to take the dishes back to the kitchens, to add more ingredients and keep them warm whilst someone would look to see if any sour cream was available. We both agreed to this, Duly our meals came back complete with sour cream! Oh yes, it had been found and our meals certainly had more than their fair share of it. My wife had nipped to the Ladies and returned to the table to find hers absolutely covered in the stuff! At least 5 tablespoons of the sour cream had been chucked on top of the other ingredients (we took a photo to back this up). Naturally the sour cream cooled the whole meal down rapidly, hence most of her meal was not consumed. The waiter came up to her and asked if everything was alright now, and my wife replied to him "oh, wonderful!" In our opinion he was bating for a reaction and the people concerned knew exactly what they had done. We intended to have a sweet at the start of the night, however this was a definite NO as the moods had turned bitter by now. We asked for the bill, this was produced, we were just going to pay it to get out of the place, however the waiter came over with a revised bill with 25% knocked off??? We never once asked for this, but on hindsight we should have refused to pay for the whole 4 meals. (The waiter had discussed us with another member of staff wearing jeans and a jumper, we don't know if this man was the Manager) The whole experience left a bitter taste in our mouths, one which was uncalled for by our very arrogant waiter. I would welcome someone from the Slug and Lettuce to discuss this matter with us visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 13 Dec 2016

Reply from The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre

Hi there, Many thanks for taking the time to provide us with some much appreciated feedback. Firstly, on behalf of the whole team at S&L, I must apologise for your recent experience with us. Customer service is of great importance to me and it is clear that on this occasion, you were not given the level of service that we aim to give. There have clearly been several errors made upon your visit with us and I would very much like to investigate this more. Please could you provide me some more information such as the date and time of your booking and a description of the person who served you? This behaviour is completely unacceptable. With regards to your food, I do apologise that they were not of the standard you would normally expect. Every meal should be prepared to the specifications given to the kitchen and there should be no discrepancies with regards to this - the kitchen does get extremely busy on theatre nights and this could be a possible explanation of the shortfall in standards. However, this is not an excuse and by providing me with a date and time I will be able to determine the kitchen staff that were on and bring this to their attention in order to get to the bottom of what has happened. I do apologise that while a manager was aware of your grievances on the night, the matter was not rectified there and then. I assure you that I will be discussing your comments with the whole team in the hope that a situation like this never happens again. I would very much like to invite you back to S&L for a complimentary meal for 4 in order to make up for this. If you would like to take me up on my offer, please let me know a preferred date and time and I will book you in. Kindest regards, Ellen

Overall a little disappointed with our experience. We had reserved a table and I know that we were a little early and the table was dirty when we arrived but 2 staff members offered to clean the table and in the end I had to ask them again. The table was not reset, the cutlery was brought eventually but no napkins. I found the staff to be mostly pleasant but very dirty and unkempt. The bar was covered in unwashed glasses during our staff and as I am qualified as a hotel manager and a hospitality lecturer I am very susceptible to noticing these things but my friends also noticed. I do appreciate that you can run out of portions especially on a Sunday evening and the food was fine. We had to ask for our starters which came after our main courses!! This is not the first time this has happened to me when I have dined with you so I was quite specific about this when I ordered. I got very nervous when our waiter decided to take our order for drinks without writing anything down but give him his due it was correct. I am not sure what system you have for dividing the restaurant up (if indeed there is one at all!) but we kept getting asked for our main and sweet order by different people who obviously were not communicating with each other. I had noticed other people complaining on the day, there appeared to be little excuse as it was not especially busy. On a personal note I have never allowed my staff to eat their meal in the restaurant in front of customers as it is unprofessional. You are obliged to provide them with a rest area which I presume is adequate for them to eat in a I did not see and chefs eating in the restaurant. I am sorry to be so negative but feel it is a shame that the service is not as slick as it could be. visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 27 Nov 2016

I was very disappointing with my visit to slug & lettuce on Thursday 17th November, I was treating my gran to a pre theatre dinner when we decided to book a table to come and eat. When we ordered the food and it arrived my Fish and chips was cold and the portion size was very poor when i said to the waiter about it he took it back to get me a fresh one and came over to say that it was small because the fish don't get fed in the winter that's why the size was small!! My gran got lasange which wasn't very nice either when we asked for the bill the waiter also told us that the lasange is bought in and not freshly made on the premises. This isn't the first time we have been here but it certainly doesn't make us want to come back. visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 17 Nov 2016

All the staff were attentive, friendly, polite & helpful. Our booked table was ready even though we were a little early, food was nice, and service very good, my only comment would be that we ordered a bottle of prosecco, and the ice bucket was so narrow, we couldn't remove bottle from it without the ice spilling out everywhere. but no biggy we both found it amusing. visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 07 Nov 2016

food service slightly slow and it was not that busy. Please go back to the salad in a bowl rather than a wrap thing. visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 31 Oct 2016

Both myself and husband ordered steaks and were very disappointed in them. They were very dry & tough, onion rings were hard & brittle. Think it was sat on hot plate for too long before serving. Only reason we didn't complain was it was busy & didnt want people thinking we were just moans. Was very disappointed . visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 22 Oct 2016

Always love slug and lettuce as the deals and cocktails are amazing, 3 of us attended on friday but have to say the food wasn't great at all. Main Cource I asked for lasagne with salad and one guest had smothered chicken with chips. My lasange came with chips and I thought okay it's fine I'll eat the chips to find they are under cooked. And the person I was with chips were also under cooked. They took her whole meal back but just took my chips. So 2 of us sat there waiting as one friend didn't have a meal in front of her at all. And by the time her meal came back ours was cold. This time around food was horrible and service wasn't the best! visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 21 Oct 2016

Although we had booked a table, the food took 45 minutes to arrive from ordering. We were warned that this was likely, but it seems a very long time. The Monday night 50% off promotion was probably the cause, but they should staff up accordingly. Food was fine when it arrived, but we had to rush it as we had a show to catch ! visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 17 Oct 2016

Reserved a table to receive conformation this was done to then turn up to be told no table was reserved. Luckily mangaged to get a table otherwise this would have been a disaster. Ordered drinks to then have to chase up 20 minutes later we had still not received the drinks. Poor customer service! visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 17 Oct 2016

Sticky table required cleaning on arrival, service horribly slow although no fault of the waitress. Choices not available and decided against dessert due to the length of time it took for mains to arrive. I would advise increasing your staff numbers visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 11 Oct 2016

We have used slug and lettuce on a regular basis. Food, cocktails and staff excellent. Food alway fresh and hot. Staff more than pleasant. Only problem was that due to dietary needs that have changed unable to have a dessert as all contain dairy. This was taken as a comment and sent to Head Office which we were delighted with. Visited on tuesday night with friends, table 5, lovely young man who was not actually serving us took time to talk with us and also took a couple of photos for us, which was way more than our actual server did. She was very disinterested in her job and rather rude. The food was hot and fairly good, reasonably priced, mocktails not value for money. Visited the Slug and Lettuce at the Omni Centre, Edinburgh with my two daughters last Saturday. Great atmosphere....great food......fantastic cocktails! Very friendly and attentive waiters. Can't find a single fault. £14.95 for a 10oz ribeye steak!! That takes some beating. Well done Slug and Lettuce! Lorraine visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 03 Sep 2016

Went for a meal with a group of work colleagues and was disappointed when we went to place our order and two items were out of stock. Sharing starter was lovely but mains we dropped off with no offer of sauces and I was not given replacement cutlery. Overall the standard of service was not up to scratch. Cocktail had to be sent back as the mint was off so overall we weren't too impressed!

Booked a table for 9 for 30/7 @ 7pm for my sons 20th birthday. Unfortunately his cousin is only 12. This place is only licensed as a pub not as a restaurant so we couldn't eat there. Nothing on their booking website about that! They did get us into a restaurant close by ( which had the relevant licence for a 12 year old) but it was more expensive. Be aware if you have kids - this place is not for you😢 Ps I've had to give this a 1 star review as it does not allow you to give no stars ( why not ?????????) ceejpg visited The Slug and Lettuce Edinburgh, Omni Centre on 30 Jul 2016
