We may be in the midst of a miserable winter, but don’t fear, a slice of sunshine has just landed slap bang in the middle of Portobello, perfectly timed to banish all your January Blues.

Ohana is a tropical tiki bar specialising in a huge variety of rums imported from all over the world. Named after the Hawaiian word for family (cue sobs from fans of Lilo and Stitch everywhere), this place will be a hotbed for intimate date nights, late-night cocktails and private parties.

The bar is split over four rooms, each faithfully sticking to the tropical island theme with vibrant walls, bamboo furniture and flashing neon lights. The pièce de résistance, however, is the former underground vault, now turned candle-lit cove. Book-ended by its original steel door and a limited edition bottle of Bacardi Rum (that can be enjoyed for an eye-watering €350 a glass), it’s no doubt one of the city’s quirkiest spots to sip on cocktails.
