Description
The Horse and Jockey is a football-free, dog-friendly country pub on a leafy village green in the heart of Chorlton. It’s a beer-lover’s paradise, with bottles from the USA, and Europe and at least six cask ales on tap (they are happy to let you try before you buy). They even have their own microbrewery on site (the Bootleg Brewing Co) - but if beer isn’t your thing, fear not! The wine list is good too, and the malt whisky selection superb.
The pub is divided into three areas, and in each the combination of flagstone floors, bare brickwork and open fires make for a brilliantly cosy winter hideaway - then in the warmer months, young professionals enjoy the beautiful little sun-trap terrace overlooking Chorlton Green. Food in the Horse and Jockey is served daily, with seasonal menus making the most of fresh, local produce. There are good pub classics and a special evening menu served in the airy first floor Dining Room, which can also be hired out for private celebrations. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for their regular real ale festivals and monthly farmer’s markets!
