Originally founded in 1830, Annandale Distillery lay silent for nearly a century before being meticulously restored to its former glory in 2014. 

Today, this 5-star VisitScotland destination welcomes you inside to witness the timeless alchemy of water, grain, and fire.


Step behind the scenes
The Classic Tour is so much more than a quick peek behind the curtain—it’s an immersive walk through living heritage. Guided by a passionate local storyteller, you’ll wander beneath the iconic Charles Doig pagoda roofs, explore the striking historic sandstone buildings, and stand before the gleaming majesty of the twin copper spirit stills. Along the way, you’ll hear the remarkable tale of how this sleeping giant was awakened to produce world-class Single Malt once again.

As all great Scottish journeys should, your tour concludes in the tasting room for a guided sample of Annandale’s award-winning spirits. Here, the history of the region comes alive in your glass. You’ll discover how every drop is shaped by the landscape and its most famous sons—from the bold, peated character of Man O’ Sword, crafted in honour of warrior king Robert the Bruce, to the elegant, unpeated complexity of Man O’ Words, inspired by the national bard, Robert Burns.

    Ich habe die 2 ständige Tour gebucht welche ich sehr empfehlen kann. Fredi ist ein hervorragender Tourführer. Er hat den Besuch in der Destillerie zum Erlebnis gemacht und hat diesen geschichtsträchtige Ort mit sehr viel Hintergrund Wissen an die Besucher getragen. Der Annandale Whisky ist mit sehr viel Herzblut und Fachwissen hergestellt. Jeder Tropfen ein Gaumen Erlebnis. Die wunderschönen Gebäude geben der Destillerie alle Ehre. Die Flaschen exzellentes Design. Es ist wirklich ein Besuch wert. Ich habe mir nur deswegen die Reise gebucht.

    We had a fabulous afternoon. The staff were knowledge, welcoming and helpful. My husband and son enjoyed their tour and tasting. I enjoyed walking the dogs and tea and cake. The history about Annandale and the journey they are on make the distillery a ‘must do’ if you love whisky. The team have done a really good job on creating wonderful whisky and a well restored distillery. We would definitely recommend. The cakes were excellent too.
