Visit Isle of Man, an Executive Agency of the Department of Enterprise, is hosting a specialist workshop for local photographers and photography enthusiasts to learn how to capture images of national press standard.
Taking place on Tuesday 4th August, the workshop will be delivered by London-based photographer, Mikael Buck.
Having worked with many global brands, Mikael has had his photography published in a host of national publications including The Times, The Guardian and The Independent to name just a few… Mikael will deliver a short presentation including examples specific to the Isle of Man to demonstrate the difference between what is considered newsworthy and what isn’t, and what the media look for when it comes to judging and selecting.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along some of their own work from which Mike could work with them to show what little tweaks they could have made to make the photos more newsworthy or more suitable for publication.
Angela Byrne, Head of Visit Isle of Man, said:
‘The aim of the evening follows on our commitment laid out in our strategic plan to 2023 of improving perceptions of the Isle of Man and placing our brand front and centre of potential visitors’ minds… Through learning what the UK press want from news photography, the Isle of Man has a stronger opportunity of being used/featured in mainstream publications, which is critical if we are to raise awareness and capture our representative share of the growing visitor market within the UK and Ireland…’
