Hey you guys we bring you the childhood favorite The Goonies, a firm favorite with anyone that grew up in the 80’s. Now make it a favorite for your kids like you enjoyed when you were younger. Perfect for anyone who enjoys an escape from reality and an adventure along with it, with an all star cast of children actors that went on to be hugely famous. All of this at the iconic location of Newhaven Fort, come see a classic in a piece of British History, below the cliffs of this Fort boats left for the notorious D-Day landings. As always before all of our screenings, we bring live music from hand selected acts, as the sun sets and before we press play.

THE FILM
Leonard Maltin wasn't alone when he noticed similarities between Goonies and the 1934 Our Gang comedy Mama's Little Pirate. Adapted by Chris Columbus from a story by Steven Spielberg, the film follows a group of misfit kids (including such second-generation Hollywoodites as Josh Brolin and Sean Astin) as they search for buried treasure in a subterranean cavern.
Here they cross the path of lady criminal Mama Fratelli (Anne Ramsey) and her outlaw brood. Fortunately, the kids manage to befriend Fratelli's hideously deformed (but soft-hearted) son (John Matuszak), who comes to their rescue.
The Spielberg influence is most pronounced in the film's prologue and epilogue, when the viewer is advised that the film's real villains are a group of "Evil Land Developers." The musical score makes excellent use of Max Steiner's main theme from The Adventures of Don Juan, not to mention contributions by the likes of Richard Marx and Cyndi Lauper.
THE VENUE
Steeped in war history and cloaked in mystery and protected by its impressive ramparts, Newhaven Fort has been keeping its secrets safely hidden for almost 150 years. The last of a long series of defences built on the cliffs overlooking Seaford Bay. Dating back to the Iron Age, the site has seen updated many times to what you see today, this well hidden fort tucked and built into the hill top, makes for an iconic venue to sit back and watch a selection of great films within.
Boats left from below its walls for the infamous D-Day Landings of the Second World War. Something truly quite special about this venue and one we recommend you book in early for.

4. Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by the promoter, team, performer or venue for a variety of reasons. If the event is cancelled, please contact us for information on receiving a refund from the responsible party. If the event was moved or rescheduled, the venue or promoter may set refund limitations. It is your responsibility to ascertain the date and time of any rearranged event.
5. The venue reserves the right to refuse admission and may on occasion have to conduct security searches to ensure the safety of the patrons.
