I am writing to express my disappointment with the Oktoberfest event held on 18th October. My friends and I paid £27 each for entry, expecting a lively and authentic Oktoberfest experience as described in your event promotion. Unfortunately, the reality fell far short of what was advertised.
There was a clear lack of entertainment, decorations, and atmosphere. The venue was described as having Oktoberfest-style seating with Bavarian benches, but this was not the case. Additionally, the website described it as having ‘Oompah bands’ which we did not experience, even the music being played was not of Bavarian theme. We gave the event around an hour and a half to see if things improved, but sadly it remained underwhelming throughout. The low turnout and lack of organisation made it feel more like a small social gathering of regular members rather than a themed event that warranted a paid ticket.
We also dressed up in Oktoberfest fancy dress to join in the spirit of the occasion, (as encouraged on your website & Digbeth dining club website) which only made the experience more disappointing and quite embarrassing given the lack of effort put into the event. It was genuinely difficult to understand what our £27 ticket fee went towards, as there appeared to be minimal entertainment or theming.
Additionally, during the event we checked on the website to find the event was ‘sold out’ which, again, was extremely misleading and dishonest - as it was clearly not ‘a sold out event’
Given the poor quality of the experience and the misleading description of the event, (described as ‘THE BEST OKTOBERFEST EXPERIENCE IN THE UK’) I believe a refund is a fair and reasonable request.
